Police in Khun Han District, Sisaket have arrested three men in possession of multiple firearms and over 100 rounds of ammunition, allegedly intended for a violent attack against rivals at a local fruit festival.

District Chief Mr Pavit Rattawan, along with Pol. Col. Noppadon Thuntaweesinsak, Superintendent of Khun Han Police Station, and a coordinated team from the local investigative unit, administrative officers, volunteer defence corps and the Suranaree military task force, led the operation.

The suspects, Mr Charoenchai 30, Mr Srin 29, and Mr Korakot 29, were apprehended in a white, modified four-door pickup truck with Chonburi licence plates, parked outside the Khun Han District Office.

Seized from the vehicle were two pistols (one 11mm and one 9mm), two modified BB gun revolvers and a large quantity of ammunition: 15 rounds of 11mm, 35 rounds of 9mm, and 32 rounds of .38 calibre.

Upon interrogation, the suspects allegedly admitted that the weapons and ammunition were concealed in the truck with the intent to use them against a rival group expected to attend the traditional fruit festival held at the town’s sports field.

Officers are now examining whether the seized weapons had previously been used in any criminal activity. The suspects have initially been charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and carrying weapons in public without permission or justified cause, including bringing them to a public gathering.

All three individuals and the confiscated items have been transferred to Khun Han Police Station for further legal proceedings.
