What’s your definition of having a good day versus a bad day?

Not leaving the house?

Too much time on AN?

Got too pissed out of your head?

Didn’t get pissed enough?

Taking a solid dump?

Not taking a dump for 3 days?

Or maybe it’s waking up early, feeling clear-headed, getting things done before noon, and actually enjoying your coffee instead of just chugging it. Maybe it’s one of those days when every small thing goes right like green lights on the road, your phone battery magically lasting all day, and a hot girl gives you a genuine smile.

Or oversleeping, feeling groggy, spilling your coffee, or getting sucked into pointless arguments online. It might drag on with plans falling through or the weather deciding to mirror your mood with grey skies and monsoon rain.

Maybe some days blur the line. You might get a laugh with friends but feel empty once you’re alone again. You might accomplish nothing but still feel oddly at peace. In the end, good and bad days are rarely all good or all bad it seems. Perhaps they’re just a collection of moments.

so you come on to AN in bursts ... start a bunch of threads ... then disappear for months on end?

that sounds like a good strategy.

so the forum doesn't wear you down.

A good day is liking what I'm doing. That's most of the days.

A bad day... unable to do what I like. This happens 2-3 times a month. I'm comfortable with that.

Waking with a clear head and the rest of the body in sync does it for me. No hospital appointments helps enormously as does having financial stability. Now it's pushing 7.30, time for a shower, do some laundry, get the paper go for a cup of coffee or two (after getting dressed) and remember how good it is not having to go to work.

Any day I don't let anxiety cause fictional realities.  I have enough money, in exceptional health, beautiful wife, and live in an idyllic place on the Thai/Lao border.  There are those rare moments that something triggers my mind to take control and wreck a perfect day but extremely rare that this happens.

Also lived in big cities while in bad relationships.  More stressful but for the most part I enjoyed these times.  I guess I'm lucky and  built to find satisfaction wherever I find myself.

Our darn minds are often the problems.

I read that from glucose uptake or other metabolic studies, the brain runs at full speed all the time. Explains a bit about dreaming, also about how difficult to attain the peaceful mind state.

So the brain is gonna be running I think the trick is to keep it positive.

The best thing for me is to have practical thoughts about working things out in day to day tasks.

Planning is also good, if I am filling a legal pad with plans it keeps my mind busy and keeps the "feeling of bad being" away and allows me to have the "feeling of well-being".

I have chosen to work even though I am collecting retirement. Sometimes I think about having every day free, but work seems to be good for me to keep my mind busy. I am lucky, my Thai employers treat me very well.

Good thread, interesting and informative.

I got a thumbs down on the post above.

Since I was talking about my own thoughts, feelings, and experiences I am baffled as to what the thumbs down is about.

I am guessing just one of the bitter old hens that hang around on AN.

Yea chatting mundane <deleted> on here and counting your pennies like the cheap Charlie you are.

You keep living that dream.

Just had a good morning wiring 3kw of solar panels to my off grid inverter (5x580), and 1.2kw of solar panels (4x340) to my grid tie inverter. Now charging my EV should be free.

Lifting those 580w panels on to the rails is hard work!

While replying to you a big purple butterfly flew in the window and sat beside me on the sofa, how good a day is this?

Yes, I received one too, probably from the same person.

Unhappy people don't like it when others are content.

I welcome a bad day every now and then. It makes me appreciate the good days all the more.

Without one, you can’t have the other. Very Taoist!
