Thailand taxes all EU and US articles too heavily... So why complain if other countries are doing the same??

Funny, I'm thinking Trump's arrogance had the largest role to play.

Higher rice prices will NEVER flow down to the farmers. The millers and middle men take it all.

Higher prices do flow down to the farmers.  My Thai wife has rice farms and I see the receipts from the distributors every November after harvest.  It’s all about the price for rice that day.

Thailand should now recognise that America cannot be trusted, ever again. It should look for new customers and get economically closer to China. Maybe it should increase its prices even further on certain food products such as rice and shrimp and really let the American consumer suffer even worse, remembering that the American consumer is the American voter.

American consumers like Thai consumers are not mandated to purchase imported commodities so consumers that don't purchase imports they wouldn't suffer regardless of what tariff is set

I would suggest that Thai bargirls be advised to increase the price of their short-time services with American clients by at least 50%. :1zgarz5:

You have lived in Thailand a long, long time. Why do you care? Do you know Donald Trump personally? How do you know he is sinister? Because you read it somewhere in the fake news? I live in rural Isaan and I see absolutely no way this will ever affect me. You live in Thailand, live like a Thai. Stay away from the fake news and enjoy your life.

Well staying away from news is good advice, but claiming that it's fake news just because you don't like it is just poor judgment. I have a business in America so his policies do affect me directly unlike most guys on this forum who are comfortably retired.

How do I know that he is who I claim he is? I worked in commercial real estate in New York during the 1980s and I did many dealings with people who worked directly with him, sold buildings to him, and sat in rooms doing closings for 8 hours at a time. The first hand stories that they told were utterly horrendous, and that was who the man was 40 plus years ago. Do you actually think that he's like fine wine and he's improved over time? No, he's only become a more grotesque monster.

You like to talk about fake news, but the reality is that most of his supporters have no idea who the man is, and have no inside information on who and what he is, they just buy into the PR machine, and they buy into his fake hype, lies and hyperbole, so who's the one who's listening to the fake news?

In a couple of days the next release numbers that although likely to be averaged down will also likely show a significant upward shift that the previous "official" numbers tried to disguise.

Opinion?  What evidence you have that it is a disguise!

Would it not work both ways if numbers go up or down it can't be because ones opinions might sway the numbers that come out.🤔

US consumers will usually not pay more because the costs of tariffs area paid and eat by the supply chain DOWN LINE from raw materials, and on up to the last of chain seller. These ignorant journalists and talking heads barking about "oh my oh my rising prices for consumers" is alarmism. They haven't read a freaking economics or global trade book in their fkn life.
