a travel company showing they know very little about travel destinations and safety...

Forgot about the straw manufacturers they love them 🙈

I think I might know what happened.  Someone dropped the 2-page list of countries, and when they picked it up again it was upside down?  Perhaps Myanmar, Sweden, France and the UK were on the 2nd page, and that piece of paper didn't get picked up.

All a big misunderstanding...

😹

I suggest they read this newspaper,

Buildings falling down, steelwork collapsing, coaches crashing, catching fire, traffic accidents, boats sinking "SAFE" ??

Don't get me wrong I love Thailand

TH is absolutely the safest travel country in SE Asia.

This is comparing to:

Bali (plastic waste disasters in the surf beaches)

Indo (terraism)

Vietnam (caffeine overdose potentiality)

Laos (cringey shops tour burnout)

Cambo (UXOs and beggar burnout)

Burma (psychopathic military basterds)

Thailand No.1 !!

You do know that Singapore is in SE Asia don’t you?

Have a think about that for a nano second and see if you revise your ranking

I would tend to agree as long as you keep your nose clean and stay away from Pattaya. The biggest danger here is on the highways, crossing the street, breaking your ankle on a decrepit sidewalk, getting electrocuted by hanging wires, hitting your head on a low hanging sign, and other such public hazards.

I'm infinitely more worried about getting robbed, assaulted, or murdered in Los Angeles and most other large American cities, than I am here. Thailand it's quite safe for most tourists and expats, as long as you're sensible, and keep your wits about you, and drive very, very carefully.

Being safer than LA and most large American cities is a pretty low bar to pass. It doesn’t make Thailand the safest in SE Asia (Singapore), nor Asia(Japan), and most certainly not the world, ( add Nordic countries to Japan and Singapore)

Love Thailand but was that report dated 1968?

Bullship.

In HCMC you just saunter into the traffic and they weave around you like fishes.

Or be an Indian with a gold necklace.

That's something that I'll never have to worry about being.

I see it this way, they are simply trying to sell more tour packages.

Its safe alright ... name a place safer for tourists, especially families  & sun and sea + great food and good prices worth going to  overall ? .. you cant

Australia...New Zealand...Pacific Islands.

How dangerous must it be then in North Korea or Switzerland for that matter; the only thing I can read daily is mishaps to and with non-Thais but then I could be wrong again 😞

Was this assessment written before Thaksin cancelled his friendship with Hun Sen?

Didn't I read not long ago, on another thread about 4000 pedestrians died in Thailand last year due to road accidents.

Only 4000?

It certainly seems that way. It feels safe. The only time you hear about getting hurt is in one of the major cities, Phuket, Pattaya or Bangkok when a foreigner get drunk; then gets hammered by locals: taxi drivers, moto sai boy, or bar girls. There is a lesson there.

Very safe. Only 20-25000 people dies in trafik every year.

Does that count?  Are the traffic and murder figures included in your country's tourism stats? I believe the teenager murder rate is incredibly high in the Scandinavian countries.

For thousands of Nordic tourists and expatriates who annually flock to Thailand, the latest safety rankings come as no surprise. Their experiences resonate with the findings, demonstrating that Thailand is not merely an exciting destination but a secure one as well.

Yes, just ask a Danish man named Jakob Jensen, who was found dead in a Bangkok police cell in 2025 after being missing for over two months, or 25-year-old Swedish Felicia Cedergren, who was in a coma in 2023 after a motorbike accident on Koh Samui, or, perhaps, the Danish Tourist stabbed in Phuket in 2024.

Personally, I could name more than a dozen countries where I feel much safer and more 'secure' than in Thailand, with Japan leading the list...

Agree 100%.

1. Japan, 2. NZ, 3. Australia (despite one eerie experience in Darwin)...
