WISE Problems, July 2025 edition

Any problems transferring Wise to Thailand?

Sent $15K a couple days ago, delayed, there is allegedly a technical issue with the "partner bank."

Agent can't or won't confirm if this is with recipient (Kasikorn) or some intermediary.  (Read somewhere Wise uses a firm named "Alantis" or similar to handle distribution to Thai banks.)

Was told by one agent that it could take up to ten days to resolve the technical issue.

Cancelled the transaction, and now being told by a different agent that the funds cannot be cancelled and released back to my account until the "technical issue" is resolved.

Anyone successfully sending larger amounts to Thailand, and if so, which banks are receiving?

Two days ago I transferred 70.000 thb to my account at BKK Bank. Service as usual.

Wise has been fine (for me) up until now.

I set up the link to Kbank last week, sent $100 to confirm, arrived in 6 seconds.

I'm chatting with the Wise agent online now, having trouble getting a straight answer out of the call center lady.

Appears (maybe?) only Kbank is affected, other transfers are (perhaps?) going through.

We'll see.............

I successfully did Wise transfers to Kbank on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th and both arrived in seconds. So working OK for me.

The difference that I see is the amount compared to the other posts.

15k$ is about 480k Baht.

I do monthly transfers to Bangkok Bank less than 90k Baht.

Kasikorn is a while ago.

Problem now resolved.

Transfer cancelled, money refunded into my balance yesterday.

Then sent $50K to my Bangkok Bank account, which I will then transfer to the wife's Kbank account.

This is nice.

Selected purpose of transfer to send money to family, money received at Bangkok Bank coded as international transfer.

Sent 250,000 baht to KBank this morning.  Arrived in four seconds.  We're building a house so....

P.S. No reason entered on the transfer.

I'm curious. That's the limit that I can transfer from my US bank -- with an ACH 'push.' Is this your limit -- or is that only a factor of my US bank? I ask, because the Wise limit is 2M baht, or around $60k. I noted earlier that you planned to send around $60k. Did you stumble on a $50k threshold with your financial institution? Thanx.

Yeah this month I sent two high dollar amounts to BKK bank with normal processing and no delay in receipt.  Same for all the 20 years I have banked there.

No, that's how much I managed to scrounge from the sofa cushions and collect in my Wise balance.  Sold another ETF and sent an additional $10K the next day.

As it turns out, most US banks and credit unions have limits on how much can be SENT out by ACH, ranging from $3-$5K daily.

Navy Federal Credit Union limit is $5K/day, maximum $15K in a 5 business day period.

That limit does not seem to apply to PULLing money out by ACH.  On two days, I sent $5K out by ACH and also pulled $5K by ACH.

Limits do not apply to brokers.  Schwab limit on sending ACH is $500,000.  I believe the actual limit set by the ACH system is $1 million.

Final batch of $15K arrived just now at Bangkok Bank as promised at 2:13pm.

Ooooohhhhh !! Lucky Wife !!!

This week via WISE  I’ve sent a transfer for 100k Thai Baht to Kasikorn and transfer went through in seconds.

Never had a problem until yesterday, tried sending myself a small amount of baht to KTB and both were rejected.
Tried both GBP and THB.

My first WISE problem today,

Transferred 750gbp early this morning to my WISE account.

WISE opens up my UK phone banking app and makes the transfer, just my fingerprint required.

Money leaves the UK bank within a minute, WISE still waiting for the money 4 hours later.

WISE say, please wait 2 days before investigating ....... it was always in WISE seconds later previously.

You should never cancel a transfer that is already brought on the way! Even any support person tells you…

As your transfer details are a little weak, even the high transfer amount is mentioned, the transfer could have been Stuckes for several legal reason.

- Transfer exceeds the Sender Country Limit, wherewith further legal examinations are to be considered

- From and to Bank account holders vary causes further legal investigations

- The reason for transfer might probably not fit to the in the backside available consistent rules which automatically blocks a transfer for further investigation

Only a few of legal reasons that might lengthen the duration for transfer... Usually Wise is very trustworthy and reliable with their transfers, even it might take a couple of seconds or a certain amount of days.
Good luck to you.

My first WISE problem today,

Similar for me with a couple of transactions around 10:00 today.  They've just cleared in the last half hour with Wise showing receipt of my money at 17:01 and 17:11.  Both payments showed as left my UK bank immediately.

Same here, wonder where the problem was.

Left NatWest immediately at 07:14, arrived WISE  17:04.

If your bank isn't NatWest, that would indicate a WISE problem.

Mine was from TSB so not part of the NatWest group.

May not be Wise but could be Pay.UK as they operate the Faster Payments Service which most banks use (although I think more likely it is down to Wise).

Yes, down to Wise.  Part of their reply to my query:

We would like to inform you that previously we're facing a technical issue with your transfer. But the issue is already resolved and your transfer is also already completed

I received a similar email, plus

Because we made the error with your transfer, we'll compensate you.

Since all associated fees have already been refunded, we have instead credited your Wise account with a fee free transfer voucher for up to 13,000 GBP  or the equivalent in your preferred currency.

I’d sum this up as a one-day hiccup. Not a big deal, these things happen. As long as issues like this get sorted out within 24 to 48 hours, I don’t see it as a major problem. In general, I wouldn’t start getting concerned until two or three days have passed.
