Crime Chinese Man Arrested Over Credit Card Fraud
Picture courtesy of Khaosod Immigration police have arrested a Chinese national accused of being part an international credit card fraud operation targeting thousands of victims across five Asian countries. Officers seized more than 10 million baht in assets, including cryptocurrency, gold and mobile phones. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Mr Yupeng, was detained on 8 August following a raid on a house in Soi Phraya Suren 9, Bang Chan, Khlong Sam Wa district, Bangkok. The operation, authorised by the Minburi Criminal Court, was part of an expanded investigation into transnational cybercrime. Police allege that Yupeng was part of a sophisticated hacking network that stole electronic card data from victims in China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. The stolen details were used to buy gold and mobile phones, which were resold for cash before being converted into cryptocurrency to conceal the proceeds. During the raid, officers seized credit card data from more than 5,000 individuals, 70 mobile phones, gold bars weighing 20 baht, over 400,000 baht in cash, cryptocurrency valued at around 9 million baht and one vehicle. According to investigators, Yupeng used the Telegram messaging app to coordinate with the network, instructing others to use stolen credit card information to make online purchases. The goods were sold in Bangkok’s Pathum Wan district, with payments converted to the digital currency USDT and transferred to accomplices. Police say the suspect had been running the scheme for over 10 months, wiping all data from stolen phones before sale to erase evidence. Yupeng has been charged with the unauthorised use and possession of other people’s electronic cards. The case has been referred to Bang Chan Police Station for prosecution and authorities are working with Thai banks to identify the wider criminal network. 🥱 Ah, one of those resident seppo trolls. Guess it’s all tongue in cheek, or should be given the op, but always amusing when a yank harps on about music. A bit like them musing art, literature, history or sport even and their bastardisations. Just no. One could bite (alright, america apparently gave us r & r, jazz, country and hip hop—lol on all counts, throwaway incidental white noise meant for the lift), but ain’t worth getting into because it’d be akin to an attention seeking demented toddler arguing with its calm and collected all knowing mother. But, yes, rock & roll was it? 😂 A bit like jazz; you know they’re not serious, are just trolling or don’t know what they’re talking about, because it’s not really music is it. Stick to Trump guys. Next.
