Saw this and thought, not much would actually change for me.  I only rely on the internet, for O&A info, which I did just fine without, the first 7 years in TH, using paper maps and LP guide book, as sad as the LP guide is.   All worked fine.  This 2000-2007 ish

Main difference, would be reading the Bkk Post, paper version, instead of AN, with my morning coffee.   Sadly, not nearly as comical as AN.

I discovered a local forum, 2005/6, but few really had much advice to offer.  Aside from social interacting from the forum, really have no need for any forum or info on internet.  Met a few nice people, the rest I wish I didn't meet :coffee1:

Certainly helped my home cooking, with YT vid, and some O&A suggestions.  But not needed.  Past investing was done on internet, but went to the broker prior to (1996).   Internet just provided cheaper fees and more info.  Made all my money investing before investing in the market, via hands on RE investing & self employment.

Don't do dating / hooker sites.  Did hook up a lot, using Yahoo chat site app, before all the dating sites, or just ignorance about them, dating sites.  But only because I traveled to other cities.  Locally I never used, as too easy to meet locals.

Not much would change for me with no internet.

... shopping would be a bit more hassle & more expensive

... no time killing movies or TV series, but no real loss

... met all Thai GF / wives in person, real life situations,  not from sites.

Really don't have a problem self entertaining without media or internet.  I suspect no internet would throw some into a tailspin, if not having :cheesy:

No google maps. No rideshare. Tuk tuk drivers be happy.

Unless brutally hot or raining, I used to walk around Udon Thani.  One of the very walkable metros.  Even use to pedal bike it in from 15 kms out of town living.   Got lazy and bought a fold up bike, and drove in, then biked around, if not walking.

Before I discovered the baht bus system, as tuk tuk drivers were annoying, and farang pricing.  Can't be bothered with haggling.

Krung Thep, we usually use the buses, or self drive if not rush hour and parking available 🙄

Comical thinking first couple years here, before buying a car, and using public trans to see most of the county.  Especially stopping along the Gulf coast at most beaches, not knowing what to expect.

Hopped off the train at one of the Bang Saphans, and there was no transport there.  Started walking toward the beach and got a ride from someone driving by on a scooter with sidecart, to a resort.   Too funny.

Having internet access everywhere is definitely convenient, though certainly can live without it, there are workarounds. Pity those who would be crippled and lost without the internet, they probably panic when the electricity goes out for a few hours.

Our Internet was off for 3 hours yesterday ....so just did some jobs that should

have been done weeks ago ,so maybe it needs to be switched off a few hours a week

so you can get all those jobs done that you where putting off .

Without internet, work on my autobiography, currently 162,000 words. There is always something to add.

Or binge-watch about three TB of TV series my son downloaded for me.

There's always golf and swimming, or going O&A.

Yes, and the other 81,000 are about what pain medications actually work.

Back to 1995. No problem whatsoever.

Bank services back to normal.

Cash is king.

More reading books & newspapers.

In 1995 I was learning to use a computer and get mail on AOL.

The Op means 1985. I would be driving around with my friends in a classic mustang and going to keg parties.

I can't be bothered with many lately.  Started using the ignore list again, after giving most everyone a reprieve.  Added about 15 names to it yesterday, so a nicer, quick read today :coffee1:

People just ain't right in the head.

Unfortunately you can block them only for you.

How beautiful it would be to block them for all. 👍

It does have a section on the morons I have encountered in my life. You are not on it, too insignificant.
