Nope never needed too, but better to have that option than rely on someone else to bail you out

If cookie has ever been drunk or high, or participates in high risk activities, he's been without insurance.  He won't find that out until after he files the claim.

As I recall, the OP story started with the guy clubbing in one town and waking up in a hospital 50 miles away with no memory of what happened.  Good luck filing that claim, even if he had travel insurance.

In 30 years of travelling due to work or tourism, cookie has never needed to claim, so im quite happy with the status quo, play stupid games you win stupid prizes, simple

So you don't really know if you're covered.  All you really know is that you've been paying in.

Look on YouTube for a CBC expose on travel plans:

That's a little different than a guy on holiday, though, isn't it?  It's easy to crap on someone else's decisions when you aren't even paying for your own coverage.

Edit:  Though the companies that had me traveling on their behalf would have probably canned me if I started clubbing in one city and woke up in a hospital 50 miles away.  On their dime...

Holiday insurance costs around 50 to 100 pound, measure that against a 31,000 pound medical bill, the maths is easy

Sure.  But they'd probably deny a claim from someone who was out on a bender like the guy in the OP.

In which case, he may as well have flushed that 50-100GBP down the toilet.

Probably another cannabis tourist. Everyting aireee mein!

But seriously, I don't dare step out of my country without proper travel insurance. It is cheap and easy to get when traveling abroad. I was paying $1200 /year $4000 deductible and coverage of $500,000 which is more than enough for most emergencies in Thailand.

Oh! Now you are confusing me with your worldwide health insurance, travel insurance & work cover. Seems to be a lot of cover & expense. Yes, keep us posted....maybe tell us the most outrageous thing you have ever done while traveling? Should be a hoot.🙃🙃

I don't purchase travel insurance, I already have insurance. Thailand is out of Network, no direct billing but no exclusions. Must apply for reimbursement with receipts. Self pay with cash or credit cards so I guess it wont help begpackers with no ample cash or credit cards.

During Covid when travel insurance was required I purchased a full year of SafertyWing.  I read the policy very carefully. Many exclusions. And no it does not pay for a private jet to fly you back to your country.

The Thai women encourage this sort of back and forth.

They have a good, naughty sense of humor.

When you use the word Thai women, that sort of generalize the majority mass, right? What you should have done, is to define that you are talking about bar girls, gogo dancers, freelancers and so on. You know, the only groups you have any knowledge of.

No, generally speaking they are a lot less prudish than you.
If you ever look at Thai comedies etc you will see a lot of it.

Even TV shows.

Sure! You live in a fantasy world, where you believe that comedies and TV-series are reflecting reality.

No but they do show that Thais are not prudish like you and have a sense of humor.

First you agree that it´s not showing reality, by posting no as an answer on my post. After you state that they show something???? Hmmm.... how can they do that when we already agreed it was not real? Not reality. You sure everything is ok?

Ok guys y'all are thiniking about what Angela meant when she said growing up together. Hmmm. Ashton 13 and Angel 34? Let me check some cougar porn for some possible ideas. Strictly for educational purposes. Checking for a friend.

Shades of Macron in this story. I wonder if Angela is also a tranny.

Will the UK government deduct the gofundme amount from his benefits?

All travelers should be asked on arrival if they have travel medical insurance for their stay in Thailand.

If not they should have to contact SMIG or other companies in Bangkok that can cover them for what ever time they stay in Thailand.

If they claim that they do not have enough money to buy insurance, they should only get one week visa, and told to go back to their home cfountry then.

Thailand, and the Thai people should not have to fund anyone from another country for medical expenses.

In My Opinion.

It is why I am proud to be a Brit.

We don’t need it. We know if we get in a bit of strife our countrymen will dig deep if it is needed.

Much better than relying on the greedy insurance companies who are only interested in profits.

Gave me a good laugh. Pity full.

No travel insurance but the begging bowl of go fund me come to his rescue.Next go fund me allready in operation  now in thailand
