Sir Keir Starmer has rejected a call by more than 130 Labour MPs to follow Emmanuel Macron and formally recognise a Palestinian state amid concerns that the issue would overshadow President Trump’s visit to the UK.

I'll start be assuming this Palestinian State is Gaza.  I'll look at this again when this place ceases to be run by terrorists.  Release the hostages, put the terrorists in jail: that'll be a start.  Then hopefully the civilian Palestinians can get fed and watered properly, they can start to rebuild, get international recognition and support, and never again will terrorists do what they did on Oct 7th and never again shall a rocket be fired at civilians or civilians get killed by Israeli troops.

The last part seems open to debate as there's no independent media covering what's happening on the ground in Gaza and I trust neither side's propaganda to be completely accurate.

There is no way the UK should even think about the possibility of supporting the creation of a Palestinian state, ever.

The late great country of England, once a bastion of freedom and democracy is now controls by 220 MPs that are antisemitic and want to recognize a terrorist organization. Very sad indeed!

Is this the Palestinian state that the Palestinians don't want and have rejected multiple times?

They only wanted it if Israel disappeared, and that is never going to happen. The Arabs were never interested in a 2 state solution only one, there own. Just rename Gaza Palestine.

Over a third of UK MPs are urging Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer to officially recognise a Palestinian state.

So, 220 MPS are in favour and 430 MPs are NOT in favour

Anti semitism is mainly confined to Labour plus a few random leftists from other parties.

In a bid to send a "powerful" message and advance the two-state solution,

How can that be a solution when neither side will agree to it ?

Why even push for that outcome when neither side would accept it ?

Its a complete non starter

M.Ps with  high Muslim constituents would also vote for it just to secure the Muslim vote

You are clinging on to avery basic logical fallacy.

The report only confirms the views of 220MP’s, the views of the rest are not stated and therefore unknown.

And of course antisemitism is the only possible reason why 220MPs could possibly support the formal recognition of Palestine.

Are there any other religious groups who’s views you believe MPs should ignore?

No, not signing it does not tell you anything other than they didn’t sign it.

Maybe some don’t want to upset their favorite lobby group.

Not signing it shows they do not agree with it .

You were celebrating your team scoring a goal whilst ignoring that the other team scored 2 goals 🙂

With more than 50 other career diplomats, Malloch Brown – a one-time deputy secretary-general of the United Nations and a Foreign Office minister under Gordon Brown – called for the UK to join with France and unconditionally recognise Palestinian statehood.

The manner in which Israel has carried out its war in Gaza has dramatically changed the way Israel is perceived, says Malloch Brown,

“Israel is condemning itself to a pariah status,” he said. “The world is utterly shocked that Israel would employ these war-crime tactics in this indiscriminate way. The diplomatic political scales have tilted in an extraordinary way.”

The diplomatic scales are tilting towards recognition for Palestine
