A Cambodian man was arrested in Buriram with 24 meth pills after initially raising suspicion of espionage. Local authorities, concerned about potential intelligence leaks amid border tensions, discovered the drugs during a search.

Police and district officials apprehended a 35-year-old Cambodian man working in Chonburi in Buriram on July 27.

His marriage to a Chalerm Phrakiat resident initially raised suspicions of information sharing across the Thai-Cambodian border. However, his phone revealed no such activity.

A search of his belongings led to the discovery of four meth pills. This prompted a further search at his wife's home, uncovering an additional 20 pills, reported Siam Rath.

The man admitted to purchasing the drugs in Chonburi for personal use and denied any involvement in espionage.

Authorities have charged him with possession of illegal drugs and are investigating further to trace the drug supply chain.
