Authorities in Nong Bua Lamphu have dismantled an illegal dice gambling operation in Non Sang District, arresting six individuals and uncovering evidence of assistance provided by individuals in uniform.

Acting on orders from Provincial Governor Surasak Aksornkul, a special administrative task force led by Deputy District Chief Theerathon Chumkaew and Mr. Prasit Mahawong, accompanied by volunteer defence officers, launched a coordinated raid on a makeshift gambling den hidden on the outskirts of Nong Mek village in Kuddu Subdistrict.

The team apprehended six gamblers, three men and three women, caught in the act of playing hi-lo, a traditional dice game. Gambling paraphernalia was seized as evidence. The arrests followed a tip-off from a concerned local resident reporting regular illegal gambling in the area.

Urine tests were administered to all six suspects, but no traces of illegal substances were found. The accused were charged with participating in illegal gambling and handed over to officers at Non Sang Police Station for legal proceedings.

Officials revealed that despite previous crackdowns in the district, illegal gambling continues to thrive. Intelligence reports suggest that certain individuals in official uniforms have been facilitating these illicit activities by providing support or turning a blind eye to ongoing operations.

Authorities have vowed to pursue those complicit in undermining the law and to continue efforts to suppress gambling and other unlawful conduct in the region.
