A 35-year-old woman tragically lost her life in the early hours of the morning of 1 August, after the vehicle she was driving collided with the rear of an 18-wheeler lorry in Bang Lamung district, Chonburi province.

Emergency services were alerted to the accident at approximately 01:35. The incident occurred on Sukhumvit Road, heading outward towards Bangkok, in front of the Welfare Protection Centre for the Homeless in Bang Lamung subdistrict.

Upon arrival at the scene, rescue personnel discovered a black BMW X1 with extensive damage to its front end, having rear-ended a stationary trailer truck. The driver, identified as Ms Ticharat, 35, was found deceased behind the wheel, trapped in the wreckage. Rescue workers used hydraulic cutters to extricate her body from the mangled vehicle.

Notably, markings and damage along the driver’s side door suggested that the car may have been sideswiped or forced into its final position, prompting further investigation.

Mr Jeerasak, 32, who was working nearby, reported hearing a loud bang, initially suspecting a tyre explosion. “I ran outside and saw the BMW had slammed into the back of the parked truck. A woman was trapped inside,” he told reporters. He also mentioned seeing another 18-wheeler slowing nearby before it quickly drove off, raising questions about its possible involvement.

The driver of the stationary lorry, Mr Somparn, 46, told police he had parked his vehicle by the roadside to rest while en route to deliver electrical appliances. “I heard a loud crash and ran out to see that a car had hit the back of my truck,” he recounted.

Police from Bang Lamung Station are reviewing CCTV footage in the area to determine the cause of the crash. They confirmed that the deceased’s body has been transferred to hospital, where it will remain until relatives present documentation for the release.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.

Condolences to the deceased lady's family, but I always have the deepest respect for the rescue people who extricate lifeless bodies from car wrecks. Not just here, but world wide, I think you have to be of the strongest character to do that day after day.

The top THREE stories today are about THREE separate road deaths one day AFTER Pattaya police were awarded a top police trophy.

Pattaya police would have no jurisdiction in Laem Chabang.
