In a shocking discovery early Wednesday morning, a fetus was found under a footbridge in Tondo, Manila. The disturbing find has left residents in disbelief and prompted a police investigation.

The Manila Police District (MPD) reported that officers from Delpan Police Station 12 were alerted to the scene at about 7:48 a.m. The footbridge, situated along the northbound lane of Mel Lopez Boulevard in Barangay 20, is notably close to a local primary school.

The grim discovery was made by Mailene Leyson, a 43-year-old local, who detected a foul smell while cleaning the lower section of the footbridge. Upon further inspection, she uncovered the fetal remains and promptly reported it to the authorities.

Officers arrived at the location by 7:51 a.m. to verify the chilling report. Confirming the discovery, the police have since notified their homicide division to take charge of further investigations.

While the details surrounding the fetus's origin remain unclear, the incident has sparked concern among the community. Witnesses and residents are eager for answers as the investigation unfolds. Police are appealing to the public for any information that could shed light on how the fetus ended up under the footbridge.

This tragic occurrence underscores ongoing issues within local communities and highlights the need for greater education and support regarding reproductive health.

As the investigation continues, local authorities are focused on uncovering the circumstances leading to this tragic event and ensuring justice is served.

While this heartbreaking incident has left the neighbourhood shaken, it has also united residents in a shared sense of responsibility to support initiatives aimed at preventing such occurrences in the future.

The authorities assure the public that they are doing everything possible to get to the bottom of the case, urging anyone with information to come forward. The community is hopeful for swift answers as it grapples with this unsettling event.
