Have you met Mary Jane?

I did another quick late night crawl around lower Sukhumvit to see if anything had changed with the weed distribution scene. Nothing has. All the shops are still there. You can still catch the smell drifting out into the street at times, maybe just a little less than before, but I spotted at least three weed trucks selling in Sukhumvit Soi 11.

Weed trucks in Soi 11, that is for medical use, is it? With the shops you can at least argue they are legitimate and only selling for medical purposes, but the trucks? That is a hard one to dress up.

Anyway, if you ever want to meet Mary Jane for yourself, you can find her on the corner of Soi 4. She never takes a day off.

A bunch of off-topic replies. The point of this topic was not to marvel at the shockingly overpriced weed in Bangkok’s tourist traps. Yes, we all know it is there. Yes, it is all overpriced. Nobody with a brain shops in any of those places. We all know that. Been like that since decriminalization in June 2022. No groundbreaking revelations there.

The point though, apparently lost on many, is that nothing has really changed in terms of cannabis sales and distribution in the high visibility tourist areas of Bangkok since the laws were changed this past June 23rd. Laws for medical use cannabis are still being enforced with all the vigor and urgency of a sloth on sedatives, if at all. That was my takeaway after a quick stroll down Sukhumvit last night. But why focus on that when we can just restate the obvious.

Flame removed,

Topic not well defined, so no off topic posts.

If op wants topic closed, no problem.

In my resent travels in the far south was shocked that there were any shops at all. There were three all open , one at lets say very weird hours never saw it closed, one was within 100 feet of my hotel , and the other surrounded by Muslim shops. In four days never saw a foreigner. As I said Dr. Doom my hunch is in hiding realizing current government is on the rocks and going no where fast. Guessing at least another month of total daze and confused government until someone wakes up to the fact that the only solution is ....... you know what.

Sukhumvit will never change. Between Soi 11 and Soi 13 there are enough Nigerian drug dealers loafing around on the street to fill 4 football teams. At night the area reminds me of an urban ghetto.

and this bothers you, why?

What were the requirements for purchase?

Did you need a Doctor's evaluation and a prescription?

I think there may be a 30 - 60 day pause on the new medical-only requirements, but have not seen any recent news.

I never understood why they allow 70-80 African drug dealers, who are here on fake student visas, to shuffle along Sukhumvit Rod at night trying to sell Class 1 drugs, like coke and meth, but view weed as the problem. Why not focus on getting rid of the hard and dangerous drugs first?

Perhaps you can remind Dr.Doom Health Minister of this and also mention weed does not make people want to jump off buildings nor become like Spider Man. The guy is a nut job hired by Takskin booze KING
