I have to admit, i was there once on a business trip. I drove my rental to the White House as any tourist would. I saw it, then not two blocks headed away, I started praying my car didn't break down. It was a shameful embarassment, looking like a 3rd world country, and I'm not being hyperbolic in this statement.

A bit like the **** hole countries that nobody actually knows where they are in Africa? (Trump!)

One decade of abuse.

"Mayor Bowser has served her hometown in elected office since 2004 as Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (2004-2006), Member of the DC Council (2007-2015) and now Mayor since 2015. On November 8, she became only the second person elected three times as mayor of Washington, DC. She is the first African American woman to be elected to three, four-year terms as mayor of an American city".

Many cities in the US look like that now, as poverty levels continue to rise, and rents skyrocket out of control. Here's some photos of Los Angeles taken on a recent trip.

By the way this is not particularly good optics for a multi-billionaire to be showing such an incredible lack of heart to the most unfortunate amongst us.

I visited Washington and I can't say I was struck by the homeless being a major issue.

Of course this was in 2004, so not all that recent. Have things changed so much?

Trump is a real-estate mogul. Could he not just build a homeless shelter on one of his many lands? Or White House lawn if nothing else was available? I doubt these homeless people are particularly demanding regarding accommodation... they are not dinghy arrivals to UK...

Got much worse since 2004. Nothing has really change and the future don't look good either. Key reasons like affordable housing, social safety net and natural disasters are seen as woke and socialist by the right. Do not expect positive policies and programs for the common people. The upper 10% will be pampered with favorable policies like tax cuts.
