A 55-year-old man has died after falling from the fourth tier of the Chan Ta Then Waterfall in Si Racha district, Chonburi province.

The victim, later identified as Mr. Dechathorn Thienthaptim, was visiting the scenic waterfall in Bang Phra sub-district when the incident occurred. According to witnesses, Mr. Dechathorn, who was dressed in trial running gear, had climbed up to the fourth tier to take a selfie. He reportedly slipped, striking his head on rocks before plunging to the ground below.

Emergency services from the Pure Yet Tai Sri Racha Rescue Foundation were called to the scene and began the challenging task of retrieving the body. Rescuers reported that the location was steep and treacherous, situated some distance from the first tier of the waterfall. The recovery operation was described as arduous due to the slippery terrain and the incline of the path.

Authorities are urging visitors to exercise extreme caution when exploring natural attractions, particularly during the rainy season when paths and rocks become dangerously slick.

Chan Ta Then Waterfall, known for its multiple tiers and picturesque views, is a popular destination for hikers and photographers. However, officials have repeatedly warned that some areas are hazardous, and visitors should avoid risky behaviour such as climbing to high or unguarded spots for photographs.

Mr. Dechathorn’s body has been taken for a post-mortem examination and his family has been notified. Police have classified the death as an accident.
