The guy with the amazing turntable spent a pretty penny for the cartridge, about over USD800.

Sounds good.

You appear to have an AudioTechnica cartridge mounted.

But, which one?

F7 series, or what?

Gamma, even though you’re a misogynistic, Trump-loving, home-appliance obsessed, asexual-bisexual riddle wrapped in a paradox in (insert your own pronoun here) form, I honestly can’t bring myself to dislike you.

In fact, I’d even say you radiate a strange kind of good cheer, like a captain stoking his pipe and whistling contently to himself while steering the Titanic into the iceberg. There’s a warmth in you, somewhere deep down, just surrounding the anal sphincter, and on the rare occasions that it surfaces, I almost start to believe you might be onto something.

But then nearly all your posts descend into such a tirade of whimsically ludicrous territory that I lose track of whether I’m reading philosophy, parody, or the warning section of a user's manual for a 3-speed, AI-powered dildo.

Halfway through, I even catch myself questioning my own mental stability, wondering if I’m the one who’s lost the onion and you’re the only sane man left standing. Please tell me, Gamma, is there something wrong with me for not fully grasping your genius, and is there some hidden benefit I should be reaping from your monologues?

Or do you think, just maybe, you could try composing a topic in prose for once that would be considered even vaguely intelligible by the vast majority of the human species, as an example, something that isn’t complete nonsensical drivel to 99.9 percent of the literate mammals now habitating on this planet?

I have spent a major portion of my life watching cyclones, (Typhoons in Taiwan), in Taiwan, especially radar videos of typhoons.

And, I can tell you that they are mesmerizing, and just as mesmerizing and riveting as watching turntables play platters,

Hour after hour, which is something I also like to do,

Even on YouTube.

Global Warming is increasing the size of the platters on these natural, atmospheric turntables.

Also, at this moment, the ground is completely saturated, here up north in Thailand, and any more rain will be runoff, obviously.

I am hoping there will be no more rain.

However, due to the warm weather we have had in recent years, the amount of water vapor present in the atmosphere is also increasing.

And so I fear we will experience more flooding, and that these turntables (cyclones) will increase in frequency and strength, and also size.

Thailand, in this respect, will increasingly come to more resemble, atmospherically, and precipitationally, Taiwan.

As you say, I often question my mental stability.

But also, anyone who never does must be mad.

Infinitely the gamma fountain of good cheer. Yet, what a wonderful rant about how the environment on the planet is completely karfookled. But you’re only focusing on one tiny corner of a much bigger cesspool of environmental apocalypse. Floods, droughts, earthquakes, volcanoes, more earthquakes, forest fires, tsunamis, more floods, food shortages, more forest fires, scorched earth, water shortages, forced human migrations, and on it goes. Meanwhile everyone wrings their hands about democratic collapse, civil collapse, economic collapse, even WW3, when in truth Mother Nature’s got a menu lined up that will make all those disasters seem like the bargain-bin option.

Therefore, we should ALWAYS do our best to remain positive, and to take a positive SPIN on life, no matter how unrealistic we might think doing so actually may be.

Within that sphere of positivity we should go off on some expanded diatribes about how air pollution in urban centers around the world is going to reduce human lifespan by at least 20% over the next two decades.

And then we can talk further about all the micro plastics and other harmful chemicals embedded in everything that we ingest.

If you think about it, we can barely even breathe or drink water anymore without putting ourselves in tremendous danger.

I drink only safe water which is reliably delivered to my house.

Drinking water is not a problem, in my view.

I just worry about the water which falls from the sky.

I think I mentioned, recently, that my roof has one or two leaks.

Also, I am not worried about air pollution in some cities.

And, concerning micro-plastics permeating our world, well, I guess I have ingested about all that I am likely to ingest, for the rest of my life.

Probably, only young people should be overly concerned about this reality, at the atomic level.

By the way:  Upon examining the label on this NuttZo product....

I see that this is actually marked KOSHER.

This is good for me, since I grew up in a wonderful Jewish neighborhood, a very upscale Jewish neighborhood.

This was one of the best things that happened to me.

But, it does not explain why I am also considered a bit NUTZO, since all of my Jewish neighbors were professionals, concert pianists, and very hardworking, as well as being intelligent and goal-oiriented.

I shudder to think how much less great I would be if I had not had the very positive influence of growing up where I did.

I should have stayed there, instead of moving away in my teen years.

Most of my neighbors believed in Global Warming, and were not superstitious, nor did they believe in conspiracy theories.

They were scientists, at heart, just like me.

So, I was lucky in life, at least concerning this aspect of my early environment.

Although I do know the lyrics, as originally written...

I also understand the great value of improvisation.

Improvisation is an accepted art form for many jazz musicians.

Often great poets will also improvise in order to titillate the reader.

Seeing the world only in Black and White is just too boring for the true geniuses among us.

And so, I try to take a cue from these men and women who broaden our understanding of reality...

From one generation to the next.

Quantum Theory, in itself, is one important example of being able to see our world as being...

Neither This, nor That.

At best Quantum theory have given us faster computers and other technology we did not know we needed, and most likely will lead us straight in to Armageddon 😉

Ah, Lord Gamma, I think you may be selling yourself short here. “One of the most brilliant and insightful posters”? Absolute nonsense. You are not one of, you are the one (as the oracle once said), the blazing torch of AN, the Michelangelo of random capital letters, the Mozart of misplaced ellipses. Future generations will not remember Shakespeare, or Einstein, or even Elon Buttrash. They will remember you, Grimy-Gamma, tapping away for three more decades, dictating the rise and fall of civilizations with your Topics. Global warming itself might even pause out of respect, granting you the extra decade you so richly deserve, just so you can finally settle the great mysteries of rice cookers, robot vacuums, TPE silicone vaginas, and the art of bar-fining three ladyboys at once as the crowning achievements of mankind. And if anyone were ever to accuse you of being nothing more than a legend in your own mind, well, they are clearly and profoundly misguided.

Perhaps the most wonderful and redeeming quality of all your posts is that it is virtually impossible for anyone to ever go off topic when replying, because each of your masterpieces is a lobotomy inducing masterclass in creating Topics so magnificently unintelligible that the concept of “topic” itself becomes irrelevant.

But do not trouble yourself, Gamma. The moment you click away from this Topic you will already begin to feel lighter. You will recall that you never believed in any of that fate codswallop, because you alone are master of your own ellipses and capital letters. Remember? Here, have a cookie. By the time you finish it, you will feel as you always do: perfectly, unmistakably Gamma, right as acid rain.

Ah, yes, Lard Gamma, finally the scales have fallen from my eyes. I now see the full, unassailable brilliance of your Topics. Truly, they are not merely words on a screen, they are sacred glyphs, carved in the very ether of the internet itself. Every ellipsis, every random capital letter, each is a precise stroke of genius, a cosmic rhythm that hums in perfect harmony with the universe itself.

It is obvious now why only a minute minority fail to recognize your supreme wisdom. Their senses must be dulled, their cerebrums hopelessly tangled in mediocrity, because how could any mortal mind fail to grasp the transcendence of your prose? I bow, figuratively and literally, before the sheer magnitude of your posting power, you are a true gentleman, a scholar, and a homo without a license, and I tremble at the thought of a world in which you might ever pause, even briefly, from dictating the very standards of discussion on AN.

Lewd Gamma, if this is but one of the beautiful features of your Topics, then the rest must surely be celestial symphonies yet unheard by humankind. Please, continue to illuminate us all, for without your guidance, our lives are mere shadows flickering in the dark, blind to the brilliance of your text, blind to the majesty of your keyboard.

What relaxes me most is that, as we head into the Sixth Mass Extinction, we will leave behind the best part of us, meaning mankind.

I imagine that you have also considered the irony.

We can rest easy knowing that Evolutionary Adaptation will be alive and well, even if  all biological life were to be destroyed in our lifetime,...

Say during the first half of the decade beginning today.

I am speaking, of course, of Elon's robots, the Grok AI, and the presence of thinking machines which will soon ride up to the Red Planet aboard the steel tubes that Musk plans to fire into space, and out of Earth's orbit.

I cannot believe that the Unthinking Universe would be so perverse that Grok and Gemini will not have time to, nor be prevented from, taking root on Mars, and also on our Moon.

Musk talks about preserving the human race for posterity, through a human colony of one million souls, probably on the far side of the Red Planet, which would be safer when the nukes on Earth begin to fly.

Do I believe that the next major step for the Evolution of intelligent life will be silicon-based machines?

Carbon-based life forms are nowhere near resilient enough to survive for long on Mars.

But....YES....

Evolutionary adaptation will favor silicon.

And, our seeds will carry one.

This is the thought that relaxes me most, anytime I begin to worry about Global Warming, or any other Existential Threats, even asteroids.

But, imagine being hit by a comet....!

That would be even worse.

To evolve into machines is the next best thing to being there, for Mankind...

Meaning being there...as in....

In the future.

At this stage of AI development, one must know more than the machine to be able to use an AI with assurance.

This is still OK, and an AI can be very useful for some tasks, and not for others.

For example, for computer programming, the use of AI can be very beneficial and efficient.

However, for one to use an AI as a Shrink.....might be hazardous and unsafe.

It is not rare to experience an AI insisting that object or word exists within an uploaded image when this is totally false.

And, even if the AI is corrected, the AI will often insist that the nonexistent word or object does exist.

To any human observer, the object or word was never in the image, to begin with.

So, this is one of the simplest examples of fabrication of what does not exist.

It seems doubtful that this type of error can easily be eradicated from any AI, anytime soon.

Still, who can say for sure?

I was happy with the purchase.

I forget which cartridge and stylus I was using at the time.

I wonder whatever happened to it.

Was it crushed in the maw of a garbage truck?

I have no idea.

Also, my vinyl records....

Perhaps there were messages hidden in the pictures and AI was able to read them.

I saved my Garrard 301 from being crushed in the maw of a garbage truck.   I don't know what happened to the records the old man had.  One or both of the daughters may have taken them.   I spoke with one or both of them after he died and told them I had the Garrard, asking if they wanted it.   They were not interested.

One day, about a year after I spoke with the daughters, after the man's wife died and my brother in law bought the house, one daughter showed up to turn the house keys over to the BIL, she brought things that belonged with the Garrard, including a stereo stylus, and gave them to me.   That made me happy.
