Officers from The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and Immigration Division 2 have arrested a woman accused of acting as a broker in an illegal commercial surrogacy operation for foreign clients.

The suspect, identified as Ms. Urairisa, was detained late on the morning of 13 August in the departure hall on the fourth floor of Suvarnabhumi Airport, Samut Prakan province, as she prepared to board a flight to Hong Kong.

She was wanted under Criminal Court warrant number 3986/2568, issued on 9 July, in connection with Special Case 87/2567. Charges against her include:

• Collaborating in arranging pregnancies for commercial purposes

• Acting as a middleman in surrogacy arrangements involving three or more people

• Conspiring with others to commit serious offences linked to a transnational criminal organisation

• Participating directly or indirectly in the activities of such an organisation

Police informed her of the charges and her rights under the Criminal Procedure Code and recorded both video and audio continuously during the arrest and detention process. She has since been handed over to the DSI’s Bureau of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime for further legal proceedings.

The arrest was carried out under the orders of DSI Director-General Pol Lt Col Yuthana Phraedam and Deputy Director-General Pol Lt Col Jatupol Bongchommas, who tasked the Surveillance and Intelligence Centre with locating and apprehending suspects in outstanding special case warrants to bring them before the justice system.
