A 27-year-old English teacher from Cameroon has been found dead in his rented room in Khiri Rat Nikhom district, Sutrat Thani, prompting an investigation into the cause of death.

Police from Khiri Rat Nikhom station were called to the single-storey rowhouse in the Yan Yao subdistrict after colleagues became concerned when the teacher, identified only as “Mr. A”, failed to appear for class.

He was discovered lying on a mattress on the floor near his bed, covered with a thin blanket as if asleep. There were no signs of a struggle, assault or forced entry, and nothing appeared to have been disturbed in the room.

Authorities suspect he may have died from an underlying medical condition, though a post-mortem examination will be conducted to confirm the cause.

Colleagues said the teacher had been renting the room while working at a local school. When he did not arrive to teach on the y back after the holiday weekend, staff members went to check on him and found his body.

Police and forensic officers are continuing their investigation into the cause of death.

Sometimes a plain bite from an insect can be lethal under the tropics like Thailand.
