snoop1130 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago File photo for reference only In a troubling incident on Sukhumvit Road near Na Jomtien Temple, a 13-year-old girl was struck by a Yamaha NMAX 155 cc motorcycle on August 13th at around 5:00 p.m. The crash occurred just before the intersection at the Office of the Second Attorney General. The driver, described as a roughly 40-year-old American man, claimed the girl unexpectedly crossed his path, leading to the collision. The impact caused the motorcycle to skid nearly 100 metres along the road, leaving significant damage to its left side. The victim, a first-year Mathayom student at Sattahip Witthayakhom School, suffered a serious right ankle injury, suspected to be broken, along with facial abrasions. Her grandmother provided initial assistance until rescue volunteers arrived. They administered first aid before transporting her to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for further treatment. The Na Jomtien Police, led by Sub-Lt. Arthit Sanpanya, responded promptly to the scene. Officers documented the incident and interviewed the rider, who is set to face legal action regarding the accident. The episode highlights the ongoing concerns about road safety and pedestrian awareness in busy areas like Sukhumvit Road. Authorities are expected to review safety measures and road-crossing protocols to prevent similar occurrences in the future. In terms of legal repercussions, the American rider will undergo a thorough investigation. Sub-Lt. Sanpanya confirmed that all necessary evidence is being gathered, and both parties' testimonies will be crucial in determining accountability. For the community, this accident serves as a stark reminder of the need for heightened caution among both drivers and pedestrians, especially in bustling areas. Safety campaigns may be intensified to educate the public and promote a culture of shared responsibility on the roads. The young girl's recovery will be closely monitored, and her school and local community are rallying to provide support during her convalescence. The costs associated with her medical care, translated roughly to Thai currency, will be a concern that might require community fundraising should insurance not fully cover the expenses. As the investigation progresses, further updates will be provided to inform the public of any developments and the measures enacted to prevent such incidents in the future.
