Airports of Thailand (AOT) has confirmed that its official Facebook page was hacked, but assured passengers and the public that the cyber incident has had no impact on its IT systems or operations at the country’s six international airports.

According to a statement released on AOT’s official website, the intrusion was detected at around 16.20 on 16 August when its Facebook page, “AOT Official”, was taken over by an unidentified hacker. The page was renamed “Everyday Yum Recipes” and a post reading “Hacked” was published.

AOT said it immediately contacted Facebook’s parent company, Meta Platforms, which is now working to restore control of the page.

“The incident has no effect on AOT’s information systems or airport services. All six airports under AOT management are continuing operations as normal,” the statement read.

The company apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked the public for their continued trust, noting that updates will be issued through its official website and other verified channels until the Facebook account is recovered.

For enquiries, passengers and the public can contact the AOT Contact Centre on 1722, available 24 hours a day.

I am so happy to hear that AOT is clever enough to not connect their Facebook page to their system. I think a 3 year old would understand that.
