Rangers from Khao Soi Dao Wildlife Sanctuary, under the supervision of the Office of Protected Areas Administration Region 2 (Si Racha), have intensified their efforts to monitor and manage wild elephants in local communities.

According to Mr Arnon Buanuan, head of Khao Soi Dao Wildlife Sanctuary, the rangers and local volunteers have been conducting regular patrols to prevent elephants from straying into villages and farmland, ensuring the safety of both wildlife and residents.

On 16 August, the rapid response teams carried out operations at multiple locations:

• Ban Chanta Pae, Chanthakhloem Subdistrict, Khao Khitchakut District: Team 11 patrolled the area to monitor elephants and prevent them from entering residential zones.

• Ban Thap Chang, Thap Chang Subdistrict, Soi Dao District: Team 12 encountered four elephants in farmland and successfully guided them back into the forest.

• Ban Wang Kraphae, Thap Sai Subdistrict, Pong Nam Ron District: Team 19 found ten elephants in agricultural areas and safely returned them to the forest.

• Ban Khao Tabak, Pong Nam Ron Subdistrict, Pong Nam Ron District: Team 20 conducted patrols to safeguard villagers from potential elephant encounters.

The operations form part of ongoing efforts to address human-elephant conflicts in the region, balancing community safety with wildlife conservation. Rangers emphasised that these measures aim to protect both the elephants and local residents.
