Nope. The main interaction I have with Thais is them giving me the evil eye over their mask.

We all chose our environment, so change of place could help 😄

My neighbours aren't too bad but when I'm out and about, the old folk look really grumpy over the last few years. Probably because they're wearing masks but if they had any sense, they wouldn't bother.

We all have the feeling once and awhile, but sometimes when I'm happy and smiling for myself while walking,  and suddenly the whole world brights up around me,

I smile at them and say hello and usually get nothing back, so I've switched to giving them the evil eye back now. Occasionally I sense that someone's friendly and we have a pleasant exchange but that's rare.

Avoid eye contact. Sunglasses.

What is wrong with these people and this country? I don’t even think it has something to do with a true Thai tradition. We all know how open and openminded this country and its people were just 20-30 years ago. And now… what a shame!

No, not a shame, but arrived in 2025

I do not think this is factually correct - the law did change in June and is technically in effect now because it was published in the Royal Gazette with an effective date.

Yes, for practical purposes not too much has actually changed.  But, technically we do still need a medical cert/prescription (or more specifically, shops need to verify that we have these before selling to us).

Practically. you dont need a scrip.. I was just there buying weeed with no more than cash.

I get that too. I have found that a lot of that glaring and staring stuff is because you may not belong somewhere, especially if they don't do it to other people.

It's not your problem and you have a right to be there, it's just that you are sending out a different kind of energy that's attracting the attention of others.

Out in the sticks of Nakhon Nowhere, I get more than enough free Green off many of my local Thai friends who grow there own, never smoke in company unless everyone is and no one is disapproving, usually I spark one up after 7pm and i'm ready for bed by 10pm, all's good here.
