An incident has claimed the life of a 33-year-old internet installation engineer in Udon Thani, just days before he was due to take his wife and young child on holiday.

The victim, named as Mr Theeraphop “Esso”, was carrying out maintenance work on internet cables in Ban Dong Udom–Nong Sai, Nong Bua subdistrict, when he fell from a high-voltage electricity pole. Rescue workers from the Udon Thani Dharma Promotion Foundation rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call, but despite efforts by passers-by to perform CPR, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Theeraphop sustained a fractured skull and broken neck. Forensic doctors confirmed there were no signs of electrocution. A ladder used for the repair work was found propped against the pole alongside his company motorcycle.

His wife, Ms Anadda, 31, collapsed in tears upon arriving at the site. Witnesses said she knelt beside her husband’s body, gently covering his eyes with her hand and clinging to his hand while sobbing uncontrollably.

A local resident, Mr Kraithap, 19, who witnessed the fall, described the moment:

“I was driving past when he suddenly fell right in front of me. I stopped and tried CPR while waiting for the rescue team, but sadly he didn’t make it.”

Police have launched an investigation and photographs were taken at the scene before the body was transferred to Udon Thani Hospital for a full post-mortem examination.

Mr Theeraphop’s supervisor, Mr Narawit, 32, paid tribute to his colleague, describing him as a hardworking and dedicated employee. He added:

“He had just requested leave to take his wife and child to the seaside in three days’ time. It’s heartbreaking that this happened before he could give them that happiness.”

Authorities believe the fall was accidental, though it remains unclear whether it was caused by a slip from the ladder or another factor.
