Parking Fees Soar at Don Mueang Airport

Starting December, parking at Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport will become significantly more expensive, with fees rising sharply across all facilities. The daily parking rate will more than double from 110 baht to 250 baht, effective 1st December.

The new rates will affect the basement car park at Terminal 1, the seven-storey car park near Terminal 2, and the three-storey car park in the old building. While the first 15 minutes remain free, charges will rise steeply per hour thereafter.

Updated Parking Rates:

  • 1 hour: 25 baht
  • 2 hours: 50 baht
  • 3 hours: 80 baht
  • 4 hours: 110 baht (previously 40 baht)
  • 5 hours: 145 baht (previously 60 baht)
  • 6 hours: 180 baht (previously 80 baht)
  • 7-24 hours: 250 baht (previously 110 baht)

A spokesperson for Don Mueang stated that the increase is crucial for offsetting rising operational costs and enhancing passenger facilities. “The new fee structure ensures we maintain high service standards and manage the rising demand for parking,” they said.

However, travellers are bracing for the impact. Regular travellers, especially those using long-stay parking for international trips, might find the jump from 110 to 250 baht excessive and inconvenient. Critics say this hike could push more passengers towards alternative transport options.

In response, airport officials encourage drivers to use public transport, noting that the revised fees align Don Mueang with other major airports in the region.

For further details, passengers can contact the Public Transport Management Centre at 0-2535-1247 or the Don Mueang Airport Public Relations Centre at 0-2535-1192, both available 24/7.

In related news, Thai SmartLynx Airlines has officially launched, marking its debut with the acquisition of its first aircraft, an Airbus A320. The aircraft, now registered as HS-SXA, arrived at Bangkok Don Mueang Airport recently.

Previously part of SilkAir's fleet, the 13.4-year-old jet had been stored in Denpasar, Indonesia, before undergoing maintenance for its transition to Thailand.

These developments signal dynamic changes within Thailand's aviation landscape, affecting both airport users and the broader air travel market. Stay tuned for updates and further insights.

What are they talking about? We occasionally park at DMK when traveling upcountry for a few days, and the rate has been 250 baht per day for years now 🧐

Farang price you

Still inexpensive for major city airport parking.

That is certainly true. Melbourne Airport Value Carparking is $14 flat rate drive-up, whether it's for one minute or twenty-four hours. You still need to take a shuttle to get to the terminal.

DMK isn't the greatest parking experience. Dingy and humid, and every single time I've parked there, I've had to push other cars out of the way Thai style to get into a space.

Yes, it's remarkable how they knew to adjust the signage and increase the price when my Thai wife parked by herself 🙄

Where do you fly from. An old WWII airport. That increase is reasonable!

I apologise. I miss read your response as you stated inexpensive. sorry about that .

Is the new train line up and running?

I can see the airport being used by non-airport users........ parking up just to get into Bangkok.

The red line is less than a ten-minute walk away. Then It's a twenty baht, twenty-three minute ride to the blue line MRT connection.

The issue would be how long it takes you to find a parking spot, as the car park is usually pretty full. You're likely going to take well over an hour to get to MRT Sukhumvit MRT once you include finding a parking spot. Maybe no cheaper or faster than parking at Future Park with taxis to the redline terminus, if you're approaching Bangkok from that side of town.

Someone's gotta pay for those 200,000 free domestic flights.  What's the airports' cut on a zero dollar ticket?

Since  there seems to be skepticism about my statement, here's a post on this very forum from nine years ago showing the 250bt/day fee:

And here's a Reddit post from two years ago showing the same fee:

Hey, and here's a link (Thai only, sorry) from January of this year showing - guess what? - a 250bt/day parking fee at DMK:

So please forgive me if I find the news of this fee "increase" rather confusing 😄
