EU Outraged After Deadly Russian Strike Hits Kyiv, Kills 21

European leaders are expressing outrage following a deadly Russian missile strike on Kyiv, claiming the lives of 21, including four children, and damaging the European Union's delegation office. Ursula von der Leyen, head of the EU Commission, condemned the attack, describing it as the deadliest since July, with missiles striking just 50 metres from the EU mission.

Ukrainian authorities reported that the Kremlin launched nearly 600 drones and over 30 ballistic and cruise missiles, marking the largest offensive on the Ukrainian capital this month. Among the deceased were residents of a five-storey building in the Darnytskyi district, which was destroyed in the early hours.

Rescue teams sifted through rubble hoping to find survivors, while officials identified the ages of some young victims as two, 14, and 17 years old.

The attacks come after a diplomatic push led by the US to halt the ongoing conflict, angering both the UK and EU. UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of thwarting peace efforts, while EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas denounced the escalation. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the necessity for "tougher sanctions" against Russia, pointing to Moscow's preference for aggression over negotiation, reported the BBC.

Despite claims from Kremlin spokespersons of a willingness to negotiate, von der Leyen warned that Russia was determined to terrorise, evidenced by attacks on civilians and even taking aim at the EU. US special envoy Keith Kellogg criticised the assault as further endangering peace, which is a priority for US President Donald Trump, highlighting the severity of the geopolitical tensions.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz condemned Russia's actions, viewing the attack on the EU delegation as a brazen affront. The violence emphasises the volatile situation and its strain on international diplomatic relations.

Diplomacy remains in question as Russia's latest strikes intensify calls for more severe repercussions and underline the ongoing danger faced by civilians and international entities within Ukraine. The continued aggression casts doubt on prospects for a peaceful resolution in the region.

After all, this is a war! What do you expect?   Take a look at Gaza and what Israel is doing! Double standards?   There is always a collateral damage inevitably, unfortunately.

Shouldn't the EU be more concerned about the attacks on  NATO member  Hungary's  Druzhba  oil pipeline  and  NATO member Germany Nordstream gas pipeline ?

Nobel Prize to the one with the nearest miss on the UN.

Well, Ukraine gets now what they are desiring. Long range missiles. And everything what they need.

However, there's no answer if the war will end sooner with the new arms.

Putin does not want peace.

Only total morons and lying useful idiots for Putin say that he does.

The only option for Ukraine to have any hope to survive as a sovereign nation is to FORCE the matter.

With military force, with economic force, and yes with western cooperation.

A problem there is Trump. He constantly gives Putin breaks.

Ukraine must be able to strike back and inflict greater damage on Russian cities. Without the ability to retaliate, there is nothing to deter Russian cannibals or stop them from continuing their current actions with impunity.

The EU / NATO / "coalition of the wiling"  know full well that they stand no chance against Russia  unless they go in with full American military support...they have given most of their supplies to Ukraine already  and lack the industrial base, trained workforce and cheap energy to  replenish the depleted supplies.

The Portuguese Prime Minister called Trump to be Putin's Agent.

And to hope for military force is a dead horse for me.

I have no idea what you're trying to say with your military force comment.

Ukraine is fighting the orcs daily.

What I'm hoping for now is that Ukraine can take out 50 percent of Russia's oil refining ASAP before Russia might figure out a way to defend against that.

Reportedly due to very recent hits it's up to 20 percent from 17 percent.

50 percent would be devastating for the Russian economy and their funding of their genocidal terrorism war effort.

You will find how powerful Europe is without the help of the Yanks. A joint European army wouls smash Russia  just in airpower alone. Forget any ceasefire deals start sending long range Missiles to strike Russian Civillian targets see how they feel watching there kids and familys killed.

That would be an excellent way to start WWIII.

You are a day dreamer I think. Until now there haven't been any SIGNIFICANT destructions so far. Only damages on Oil Raffineries.

Bizarre reply.

Taking out oil refining infrastructure is extremely impactful.

What do you suggest?

That Ukraine start bombing schools and hospitals in Russia?

How do you know? It must be great to be so omnipresent. Since the beginning, the whole western strategy has been to calibrate military assistance, keep the conflict localized, and above all avoid escalation. Putin rightly or wrongly sees this as existential and nobody really knows if he is bluffing or not. What is known is that his fate is tied to the outcome of this conflict. Do you really believe that its worth risking nuclear armageddon  just so Zelenskey can keep the Donbas?

Or he knows he will be put on trial and his buddies will face A Nurenberg trial.

How will he be put on trial when he has the largest nuclear arsenal in the world? Such naive thinking is detached from reality.

Are you one of those who believes Donbass is Putin’s only goal? What makes you think that? Is it just a convenient way to simplify things and ignore the broader reality?

What’s that got to do with the EU? Clean up your own backyard before sticking your noses elsewhere.
