A woman’s stash of 458 methamphetamine pills fell out in a hospital X-ray room after a motorcycle crash in Mueang district, Khon Kaen, police reported.

 

The incident occurred at around 12.30 on 31 August at the traffic light intersection in front of Manjakhiri Hospital, Khon Kaen province, when a motorcycle ran a red light and collided with the rear of a pickup truck.

 

The rider, later identified as Ms Supannee 35, from Khum Din village, sustained injuries including a broken front teeth, bleeding from the nose and mouth and chest pain. She was initially treated by hospital emergency staff and sent for X-rays.

 

While preparing her for the scan, staff asked her to remove clothing and accessories. At that moment, a blue plastic container fell to the floor, spilling red methamphetamine pills across the room. Investigators also discovered three small ziplock bags, one pink and two blue, containing more meth. In total, 458 pills were recovered, along with 11,200 baht in cash from her bag.

 

Police said Ms Supannee initially denied knowledge of the drugs and was reportedly crying throughout the process. She was treated for her injuries before being taken into custody for questioning at Manjakhiri Police Station.

 

Police have filed two preliminary charges: possession of Class 1 narcotics (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute and illegal use of Class 1 narcotics. Further investigation is underway to identify any accomplices and to proceed with prosecution.
