Chiang Mai has officially hired the lovable geese after they impressed locals with their charm and effective aquatic weed control. This feathered team, set free in the Chiang Mai moat, delighted residents so much that 90% of over 13,000 Facebook voters agreed to make their roles official.

These ten geese are now municipal employees, soon to sport ID cards and microchips and receive benefits like vaccinations and vitamins.

Locals are thrilled to see these geese continuing their unique role while spreading joy and enhancing tourism. While their contribution to clearing weeds might be modest, their presence has certainly lifted spirits and brought more visitors to this northern city. With their unique status confirmed, these endearing geese will continue to attract tourists and locals, revitalising the area around the moat.

Simultaneously, an avian attraction at Chaloem Phrakiat King’s 82nd Birthday Anniversary Park is captivating the crowd. The park now hosts 14 elegant swans—eight black and six white—released by the Provincial Administration Organisation and Chiang Mai Night Safari, according to Thai Newsroom.

Their graceful presence has boosted tourism and encouraged locals to engage in outdoor activities, bolstering weekend visits and benefiting nearby food vendors.

Meanwhile Foreigners married to Thai's & living here decades still should check in every 90 days. Report any nights sleeping away from registered home, ask for permission to stay each & every year 😅
