The project is overseen by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and aims to enhance the airport's annual capacity to 100,000 tonnes. This cargo terminal is part of a broader push to upgrade and expand airport facilities by 2026, with a hefty investment of approximately 870 million Thai Baht (US$24 million). The 2.46-hectare project is set to revolutionise cargo handling in central Việt Nam by introducing fully automated operations. Expected to open in late 2026, the terminal is among ten projects aimed at meeting the rising demand for passenger and cargo services. ACV is also elevating the service quality of Terminal 1 to a four-star level, ensuring top-tier experiences for travellers. Da Nang International Airport is a trailblazer in Việt Nam, implementing cutting-edge technologies like fully automated passenger services, ranging from check-in to boarding. Highlights include an Auto Gate system, self-service kiosks, and multi-language video call kiosks, making travel seamless and efficient. Currently, the airport handles 24 direct routes, with 16 international destinations, managing about 112 flights daily. In 2024, it served 13.4 million passengers, including 6.2 million international travellers, and processed 32,400 tonnes of cargo, earning a substantial revenue of nearly 2.3 billion Thai Baht (US$64 million). Notably, Da Nang Airport ranked among the world's top 100 airports in 2024, according to Skytrax, a UK-based aviation consultancy. It was also recognised at Routes Asia 2024 for its capacity to handle between four and 20 million passengers annually. To further enhance passenger experience, ACV Da Nang collaborates with AIAIVN company on a multi-language Chatbot. This innovative tool supports passengers in 50 languages, underscoring the airport's commitment to accessibility and convenience. With these advancements, Da Nang International Airport is poised to become a pivotal hub in Southeast Asia, accommodating the growing demands of a dynamic aviation sector.
