Seventeen schoolchildren were injured when a pick-up truck lost control and collided with a school bus in Phatthalung. The bus driver’s wife, who was seated beside him, also sustained minor injuries.

The crash occurred at 17:10 on the Pho Thong–Si Banphot road, in Moo 9, Chamong sub-district, Khuan Khanun district. CCTV footage showed a Mitsubishi Triton pick-up, registered in Bangkok and driven by 35-year-old Mr. Kitisak, skidding into a local bus from Phatthalung, driven by 50-year-old Mr. Saneh.

Authorities reported that all injured schoolchildren and the minibus driver’s wife were taken promptly to Khuan Khanun Hospital. Their injuries were mistly minor and all are in stable condition.

Initial investigations indicated that heavy rain had made the road slippery. At the time of the collision, the pick-up was attempting to overtake the bus when it lost traction and collided with the vehicle, causing the bus to skid and tip onto its side in a roadside ditch.

Local police are continuing their investigation into the incident.

So it was no the rain and the slippery road, but the stupidity of the pick up driver that needed to speed and caused the accident. Happily he had not the excuse that his brakes did not work. Let the pick up pay for everything and revoke his license till paid
