Plus 10kg.

Featured Replies

Hello,I’ve it on 10 kg and can’t understand how.

I don’t eat dinner, just a fruit shake bananas, guava, dragon fruit.

It all seems to be my belly but only drink gin and tonic.

I run 3x a week.

Have a small amount of mixed nuts in evening

Any suggestion what is wrong?

Weetabix and cereal for breakfast, nothing unusual for lunch.

Now 93 kg.

Could be the cereal carbs, could be the fat in the nuts, could be the sugar in the fruit. Try sticking to vegetables, and boiled meat and poached eggs for protein.

Unless pigging out on the nuts, not sure how you are gaining weight.

How tall are you, (BMI ???), and when is your last intake of food & beverage, along with your first, the next day.

Myself, do intermittent fasting, which is simply not eating overnight.   From 2000 - 1200, about 15-16 hours, almost half, while sleeping.   Really helps maintaining a steady weight.   Then after my 'break-fast', we (dog & myself) take a walk at the park or surfside.

My diet is more fats (50%), and split the other 50%, between a bit more protein, than carbs.  Exercise is simply walking a couple times a day with the dog, after breakfast (noon), and dinner (1700 hrs).   Neither far nor strenuous, but everyday.

6’3”

10 pm a few nuts cashew.

I only exercise in evening.

Thanks for reply.

Get your testosterone checked.  It's probably dropped.  Welcome to old age.

Whoa ... 6'3" , 93 kg

You're not that much overweight, unless very lean muscle mass.  If all extra in mid section, might want to start doing some stomach crunches (not sit ups).  At least turn some into muscle, while burning some off.

Are you doing regular pooh pooh?

If not you may have something obstructing your bowels.  This backup can cause weight gain.

Actually, not recently, I’ll keep a note, thanks.

Personally, I would avoid that.

Fruit is high in carbs and spikes insulin.

Not sure eating fruit without protein is a good idea.

Also, maybe best to do carbs around exercise as well (if you exercise).

Unaccounted for weight gain can be the result of unrelated medical conditions.

You didn't mention the time frame for this weight gain. Was it in the last week? Or over the last 5 years?

It's fairly normal to gain weight incrementally with age, and it takes extra work to manage weight with a slowing metabolism. It takes some experimenting to find the calories in/out equation that works for you (while maintaining the appropriate gin and tonic input).

How many?

"On average, a standard 8-ounce gin and tonic contains approximately 200-250 calories. Gin itself contains about 97 calories per shot (1. 5 ounces), and the tonic has a calorie breakdown of 1 fat, 99 carbs, and 0 protein"

Bananas and dragonfruit are high carbs and fructose. Strawberries and blueberries are a better fruit choice.

Weetabix and cereal are nearly all carb. Poached eggs for breakfast is zero carb. Bacon, if you want.

Eat salads, and low carb vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower. Avoid potato, carrots, rice, noodles and pasta.

Running X3 times a week is not enough. Get an exercise bike, and swim if you can, every day. Running is hard on knees and ankles, biking and swimming is not.

Your BMI is only slightly overweight, no need to get too drastic. Don't forget to treat yourself occasionally.
