Temazepam for Sleep

Featured Replies

Many years ago I took this when doing very stressful work in the UK, many hours. It worked and I took it for 5 years or so.
I had no problems coming off but did it as advised, every 2nd day, then 3rd etc.

My question, where can I buy it in Bangkok, Bang Na area?

all those "pam" drugs need a Dr's prescription in Thailand. Diazepam,  Bromazepam, etc.

Available over the counter in Cambodia.

Dr's script are easily procured in Thailand.

Really, never used to be.

This and all other benzis are ckntrolled drugs in Thaikand.

Cannot be legally obtained except from a hospital or clinic.

This has been the case fod many years now.  These drugs are addictive and abuse potential is high.

Gaba and the like are so far still OTC in Thailand.

Why do you think you need something to help you sleep? Are you active during the day? If not try something that will make you active.

The OP might want to try Codiphen ( drowsy antihistamine ). Not expensive, OTC at any pharmacy.

Temazepam, as well as Ativan and Alprazolam, are all medications from the benzodiazepine class.

I started taking Ativan (Lorazepam) about 20 years ago, on occasions - to ensure a good night’s sleep.

At that time, it was prescribed by my GP and came in a 50 tablet blister pack with 1mg tablets.

My GP would ask if that was enough and always offered a second pack.

I said not necessary as I only used half a tablet and only used maybe twice a week.

I used the prescribed Ativan (more than one packet) sparingly over a period of maybe 10 years, especially when travelling overseas.

Sadly, due to misuse/abuse by others, it became no longer available.

I have found Alprazolam (Xanax) available in drug stores in Thailand, including Pattaya, but not readily available.

Annoying that Ativan is no longer available from a GP, for those who use it sensibly.

Ativan is available from a local Thai hospital but for me, in context of taking other medications like dexamethasone.

I recently had Temazepam prescribed by a GP overseas, and the GP confirmed that Ativan could not be prescribed.

I think it was a 10mg tablet and not very effective – such is the fear of overprescribing.

Aprazolam, I found to give a mild headache the next morning.

Ativan was good, no problems the next day.

There are websites that compare the equivalency of these medications in milligrams, they are certainly not the same.

Also, there is the issue of half-life that doctors relate to dependency i.e. whether they are more addictive or less addictive.

I believe that Temazepam is considered less addictive than the others mentioned above, as it has a shorter half-life.
