Maybe I am wrong on this but from what I have seen it seems that farangs who marry and have children with normal thai women with normal jobs are given a decent allowance when they have children together.

But the guys who marry and have children with the bargirls are extremely stingy with the allowance they give them. One guy I know who married a bargirl was telling me he gives his wife 6,000 per month of which she gives 3,000 to her parents. 
So she only has 100 baht per day. I was thinking to myself she would have been much better off staying working in the bar.

 

Another guy was also bragging to me how he gives his wife almost nothing also despite having a child with her and she has another child that also lives with them.

 

Do they do this to control them?

Is it just that they are extremely stingy anyway and that is a big reason they didn’t find love normally?

Is there an underlying hate?

Is it that they are over compensating to prove to themselves that they only want me for my money?

Is it that former bargirls simply can not be trusted with money?

Is it they actually married them because it was cheaper than paying 2-3 barfines per week? Sort of like having a sex slave?

What if you marry an educated professional with a great job and investment skills? I have bought my wife gifts, taken her on holidays but have never given or even thought about giving her an allowance. Over the course of our marriage she has bought land, condo's houses, and made wise investments on her own.

A better question could be  why do you have an obscession with the lives and lifestyle choices of exats who marry here and have normal family lives?.

Before i met my GF of 15 years, I can remember one massage woman who offered to stay with me for 3000 baht/month and food. From a hill tribe, not beautiful, but an absolute cracker in bed.

 

I have taught my GF to save money, and avoid debt like the plague.

 

She knows she will be well set up when I am gone.

It's very simple, when you think about the 9s or 10s who are young, they are just not inclined to marry. The girls who marry are generally at least 30 plus. The reason they marry is that they know their market value is about to drop dramatically and they have a biological clock ticking if they want children, so these women settle. And they usually settle for less, a reasonable paycheck will do. They know they can't demand much.

 

However, the 9s or 10s whom the guys from overseas want to reserve for a fee, they are generally younger and in their prime, so naturally their price is higher.

6K a month? What a dweeb. Give my ole lady 3 K month and occasionally a new rock for the clothes.

 

The smile she gives me is worth it.

I am curious why you think the husband even needs to give cash to the wife, with or without children. You are supposed to marry for love of the man, not love of the money he gives her. The marriage is supposed to be 2 people joined as one entity. Not one person as king with his followers waiting to get paid?. It does not matter whether she was bar girl previously or a hard-working honest woman. 

 

If the Thai woman is selling herself to the man (as you say online to many men) then she does not want love or family with one man and is trying to make her life alone so she will need all the money she can get ( most likely to support her Thai children and Thai family)

 

But you are really dead wrong calling men cheapskates just because they don't give their wife hoards of money to spend monthly or even a few thousand. They are married and all money is used to improve their family life. Not just the life of the woman. When you are married, your income and expenditures are shared between you and your wife. You are not paying her to stay with you, she has already chosen to love you and stay with you and work together.

I am getting the feeling you are not one to give your wife a generous allowance.

It's up to everyone what they give.Some give alot for keeping the lady and want to control her.

I took my exwife and our 2 kids to my country 18 years ago.Never regret that.My exwife make good money here..our kids get educated and good jobs.Now my son start studying national safety at University here after he worked and saved money.

Yes. In our 15 year relationship, I give her 6000 a month, but also pay for son's Uni education as I did for her daughter who now works in a bank.

When my Dad got his weekly pay packet on a Friday, he always handed it over to Mum, who then gave HIM a small allowance.

Face and body. The cream at the top. The girls who marry, are usually in their 30s or even older, they really NEED a guy to settle down, so they compromise and take a guy that's not that good looking, and doesn't even have to be that rich. They've ridden the carousel and adjusted their expectations. They know that male unicorns are as rare as female unicorns, so they accept a lesser deal.

 

However, the  9s and 10s, who are aware that they are the best looking, are still young, they are not inclined to marry. They are inclined to continue to ride the carousel until they find someone they think is better than them, more attractive or far richer, or both. Only later do they realise, like the 30something women, that what they want is unlikely to want them. Until this realisation sets in, they still live in hope.

 

So the 9s and 10s are more likely to cheat, stray and ask for a lot more.
