The Nan Provincial Transport Office has launched a comprehensive road safety project aimed at promoting safe driving habits and road discipline among local students. More than 300 pupils from five schools in the province participated in the programme, designed to foster long-term awareness and reduce road accidents.

The opening ceremony was held at the auditorium of Nakhon Nan Buddhist College in Phu Phiang District, with Governor Chai Narong Wongyai presiding. The initiative, titled ‘Safe Driving: Building Traffic Discipline’, is supported by the Road Safety Fund (RSF) and organised by the Nan Provincial Transport Office.

The project targets students from Satri Si Nan School, Srisawat Wittayakarn School, Nanthurawi Witthayakarn School, Rajaprachanukroh 56 School, and Ban Thung Noi School. Participants engaged in interactive learning through seven practical ‘Safety Stations’, including traffic discipline, helmet and life protection, pre-ride preparation, safe pedestrian crossings and simulated driving exercises.

The programme is supported by key agencies, including the Nan Provincial Police, the Public Health Office and the ‘Don’t Drink and Drive’ network. Officials emphasised that the initiative is crucial for instilling a culture of road safety and responsible driving among young people, which could significantly contribute to reducing traffic accidents in the province over time.

Ms. Ratchanee Srichaitan, Director of the Nan Provincial Transport Office, encouraged all sectors to continue promoting road safety awareness to children and youth across the country.

Now this OP really confuses me. Is the city of Nan actually allowing and approving the school children to drive in their city without permits rather than using funds to prevent this or to get the students classes to learn safe driving and tests to get them permits?
