Strength of the baht just keeps rising

If anyone still think baht strength is actually dollar weakness.

The dollar is getting stronger against the currencies in the dollar index, while at the same time the baht is getting stronger against the dollar.

Compare USD to Euro, since that's another huge currency, and you'll see a clear downfall of dollar since Trump took office in January.

From 1.03, to today's 1.17.

Same goes for other currencies in Europe as well, such as Norwegian, Swedish and Danish Kroners, Swiss franc etc.

Norwegian (and Swedish) Kroners have strengthened from 11.50 for a dollar in January, to 9.85 today. That's a huge shift.

Your graph makes no sense to me. Thai Baht has also gotten weaker compared to all these currencies this year, because Thailand is leaning their Baht towards USD.

  • Usually it's not the Bhat getting stronger. It's always the foreign currency like the US$ getting weaker or artificially weakened as always even before Trump, for stimulating US exports.

  • Hi season adjustments, like clockwork every year

Nobody denies that the dollar has weakened since Trump took office.

The screenshot I posted was from Friday, and there you can clearly see the baht goes in the opposite direction of the dollar, and has been doing so since Anutin was promoted to PM.

Then maybe you should learn how to read a graph making silly comments. the baht has strengthened by at least 10% or more against EVERY western currency, and some Asian ones

Okay, thanks for the clarification.

Strangely enough, USD took a hit compared to my currency NOK (and Swedish SEK) yesterday, and went under 10 kroner, to 9.85.

Baht didn't move, so obviously something happened in opposite direction yesterday compared to us.

Bullshiit...

I just explained that USD took a HIT compared to several Western currencies YESTERDAY, and the days before, and Baht didn't move.

Silly comments my butt. All you Americans can do, is insulting others.

Feel good do ya?

Go check for yourself how Baht has WEAKENED towards my currency lately, NOK (and SEK).

"At least 10% or more strengthened against EVERY Western currency..?" LOL.

You're talking bs, and telling me to learn how to read graphs, when you are lying out of your ass.

That is what foreigners want to think.

As far as they are concerned the fact that Thailand's foreign reserves are at an all time high wouldn't have anything to do with it.

For clarification to settle some of the differences in opinion,
The USD has lost about 10 % of its weighted value DXY in 2025.
The following clearly shows what has happened since 01 January 2025 relative to major currencies.

And it indicates that the THB gain is against the USD, and that correlates with the USD getting weaker.
In 2025 from 01 January
THB to USD from 0.0291 now 0.0315 that’s a gain of +8.2%
THB to EUR was 0.0281 now 0.0269, down 4.3%. The Baht is weaker against the Euro.
THB to GBP was 0.0233 now 0.0233, that’s level
THB to JPY was 4.580 now 4.655 that’s a gain of +1.6%

Correct, and Baht has weakened even more compared to Nordic currencies this year, Kroners.

Even the last 5 days, Thai Baht has weakened to these currencies, the complete opposite of the know-it-all claim above here.

For those wanting to move some baht out to their own currency, it's great.

This cheers me up. (I know, slim and none, clever).

When AN members make predictions they are almost always wrong.

40 baht to the dollar here we come!

So you don't believe that Thailand's gold reserves have gone up in value and strengthened the Baht.

Currecies like Thb  and Aud, more likely to be impacted  by external factors, rather than the domestic.

Thb hike for the past few years, caused by massive Thb buys outside this  kingdom; baht is now regarded Safe Asset.

One major background is the sound state of Thai finance:

Thai Current Account is still strongly in black while almost all of the first world is deeply in red.

Thailand's. GDP-DEBT  ratio is 67% or  so.

As well as a lot lower inflation rate here(-0.8% in August this year) than most other places.

Monies of the nation with higher inflation rate  always become devalued.

As inflation means loss of monetary value itself.

Sounds clear enough?

So you don't believe that Thailand's gold reserves have gone up in value and strengthened the Baht.

Not unless there is evidence to prove it.

The usd is falling against major currencies as can be clearly evidenced.

Uk has more gold reserves than thailand. Why is the baht the same value against the GBP?.

For the EUR thb has fallen. swiss franc there is a small thb gain but swiss have 4 times the gold reserves of thailand.

Why would thailand's gold reserves be the key factor?

The gain is against the usd, not against other major currencies. Thats a fact.

Its illusory to say the thai baht is strengthening when its only against the usd and the usd is falling.

And Thai Baht and USD continues to weaken against several European currencies.

I wonder why, with a clown in the white house.

Are they great yet?

Looks like the baht is under some pressure today.

I was just going to say the same thing.

Strong THB just to help the hiso's who are sending their money out of Thailand.

But strong THB will badly harm tourism and all those who make a living with the money the foreigners bring in.

So time to respect that foreign money. Respect the foreigner. Make immigration and visa issues more fast and simple and stop asking for all those supporting documents.. and do what is needed to drop the value of the THB.

The foreigner who comes to Thailand and gives 1 €uro at the local exchange bank must get no less then 40 or 41 THB at least.

if the Euro zone didn't have it's own massive problems perhaps it would be.

You sound as bad as some Thai's - me, me, me......

Obviously Immigration offices vary but I have had no issues with what I have had to provide over the last 12 years and I have generally found it very fast and straightforward. Sorry that you have had problems......:whistling:

You're assuming that the Immigration department cares about economic stability of the country; they do not. And Immigration officers at airports have a totally different agenda. Feeling unwelcome as soon as one steps off the plane, no way I would travel all the way to Thailand these days, if I lived in my home country. Personally, the only reason that I am there from time to time is that I am based in Asia.

I agree, the immigration cowboys in Thailand are destroying the economy,
