On 9 September, highway police arrested 32-year-old former Thai boxer Boonchu, wanted under a Phichit-issued warrant dated 5 February 2025 (Case No. จ.12/2568), for fatally assaulting a man who later died from brain swelling at hospital after an argument over cutting in traffic on Rama 2 Road in Ratchaburi’s Pak Tho district.

The arrest took place at a highway police checkpoint on the southbound Rama 2 Road in Wangka Mano subdistrict, Pak Tho district, Ratchaburi, where Boonchu was riding a black Honda Wave motorcycle without a helmet and appeared nervous. Officers matched his face to the outstanding warrant and promptly took him into custody.

During questioning, Boonchu admitted to confronting the victim, referred to as “Mr. A” in reports, after a traffic dispute in Bung Sam Phan district, Phetchabun province, where the victim allegedly cut him off on a motorcycle. The former boxer said he “hit too hard,” causing the victim to lose consciousness and suffer brain hemorrhage, leading to surgery. Upon learning of the victim’s death, Boonchu fled, but was ultimately arrested.

Police records show Boonchu had prior arrests for attempted murder and drug offenses. After being apprehended, he was transferred to Bung Sam Phan Police Station to face charges of “battery resulting in death,” in line with the warrant.
