Consolidation of Non-Immigrant Visas

Featured Replies

Starting from August 31, 2025, the Department of Consular Affairs will restructure the Thai Non-Immigrant visa categories by consolidating the current 17 Non-Immigrant visa categories into 7 categories. This initiative aims to reduce redundancy and enhance the overall efficiency of Thailand’s visa application process. This change will have no impact on visa applicants.

Thanks  I know it says there will be no impact on visa applicants

but can't help but feel there will be a new raft of forms to fill in  previous versions being null and void.

Funny they posted this over a week AFTER the start date.  I'm assuming it's just a UI change for when selecting which visa you are applying for, and each of these visas are still available same as before?  They don't do a great job of describing what the change is in the post.

I think you're confusing getting an in country visa/extension <- which is controlled by the Royal Thai Police Immigrations Division

AND

buying a visa from a Thai consulate outside the country via the online eVisa website <- which is run under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Two completely different governmental agencies who rarely is ever interact with one another 😉

I too find out a bit strange they posted this after the change allegedly took effect.

It would appear after a brief perusal of the eVisa website that there are no changes to the choices in the drop down once you select Non-Immigrant as the visa type. it still shows the same 39 choices under the Non-Immigrant tab.

I can't see any difference 😞 Maybe I'm not observant enough. 😛

Maybe the actual change will come next year. This is what they said they would implement last year. No need to hurry 😁

Maybe they've only changed their internal processing and what they put on the actual eVisa document. In that case, their claim that the change has no impact on applicants would make sense.
