Follow on from thread about "Quality Tourists" in general.

What makes a quality TV poster?

List your "description" here.

Don't forget to include tips for "browny points", getting a "warning count", how to make friends, how to get youself re-jected from the TV general community, computer literacy & control usage, and impressions of "visitors" to TV web-site etc.

Actual examples with links appreciated as well (good, bad & ugly).

Cheers, knock yourselves out!

Wow, things are getting heeeaaaavvvy!

Yep. Surgery will do that to a breast.

I like 'em real! Heavy or light.

She can carry the weight.

Is there a hot breast thread?

Hot breasts are sweaty.

Taste salty.

Run 'em under the shower first.

:o

^^^^^^^^^^^

Or wipe your chips (french fries) on them. Recycle is the name of the game nowadays!! :D:D

S'pose you mean picking on those that can't fight back.

OK I'm up for that.

But we'll start closer to home.

English as a second language in Manchester for example.

(Boy am I going to get reamed for this but <deleted> it's all good fun ain't it?)

:D

as in any group, participation counts for a large part.

When first I joined, I was a bit nervous. I had never been on any sort of online forum before. But back then I still had fresh memories and knowledge from several years of living in various places in Thailand, and in that regard I was able to contribute some fun, some advice or suggestions to others, and so on and so forth.

Gradually this place became my online "local" and I the local court idiot, and that has made me feel more at home here than ever, despite the fact that the years since last I was in LOS have speedily increased.

I know that my fairly consistent jesting outweighs my more serious contributions and in that regard I've put some people off, but yeah, those who've put up with me have also gotten to know me pretty well, and much to their chagrin, have also discovered that I can be serious, sometimes intelligent, and that I ain't just a Klown.

Participation.

oh! And of course, Breast Fondling.

:D

I know what doesn't make a quality poster:-

- "If you don't like it then leave."

- "Mods, close this thread" (not Kayo's jokes).

Defending Thailand at all costs (Terry57 syndrome. Where is he?)

- Erm, lots of other stuff.

Making a good poster:-

- Not generalizing and stereotyping too much. (haha)

- Discussing with reasons.

- I like a clear message too. So that I can easily read it.

- If people praise me and agree with my points I often consider them a good poster.

A very nice thread by the way Soundman. Not unusual for a quality poster such as yourself. :o

Piss off!

:Dmarks out of ten please. :o

(with appropriate Eurovision Accent, please: )

Nil Po-ints

There a few who don't let lack of knowledge on the subject prevent them from posting who wouldn't fall into that category.

Others repeat their arguments ad nauseum, check out most topics that go for more than two or three pages.

It's hard to say who are the best posters here, nearly everyone has their moments of brilliance but find it hard to maintain the standard.

That should score about 8.7's across the board.

Anyone volunteering for Jubbly Judge Judy duty?

And how did it only take one post for this thread to gravitate towards tits?

cndvic, colpyat and sceadugenga are some of my favorites for consistantly good/interesting posts, but colpyat is always on the verge of being kicked off and I don't understand why. :o

Why is it beyond these peoples' capabilities to just stop logging in? I'm registered on a forum that I loathe. I just never go on there. Who needs to be officially locked out?

Edit - typo

It's pretty funny. I guess some people like to slam the door on their way out. Most never ask for instruction manual however.

Flame + moth ?

Just a theory.

What forum is that then? Might be good.

How did you register if you never go on there ?

I can think of a few who need to be officially locked out.

Looking for quality here?! That's rich! :o

How did you register if you never go on there ?

I think NR may have been better off using the word 'seldom' or 'infrequently' ....... and I would hazard a guess that most people reading it would have felt the same and come to the same conclusion.

Pedantic is also a good word, seldom used to good effect. :o

I have seen you use it to good effect!

I'd imagine that all members of Bedlam have visited there, already. There are certainly a lot of past & present TV members on there.

I just find it very clicque-y and pages upon pages of one-liners that you have to know all the others (members) to understand. I don't think I've ever seen a post on there that's longer than a paragraph.

Check my tenses, FS. I said "I never go on there", present tense. Not "I have never gone on there", which would, as you point out have made it rather difficult for me to register. :o

A few things that I've learned over the years (and some day hope to live by)

Not every thread has to be a battle. Just because you disagree on which bottled water is better does not mean the other person is the world's biggest idiot.

Conceding a point doesn't make you weak, it shows you are intelligent enough to digest reason. (I plan to do this one day.) You want a sign of a quality poster? He/she's the one saying "Okay, I see what you are saying, maybe you're right about that" They've actually learned something from the forum.

Expletives start when intelligence ends. When someone starts calling you names it's a good sign you've overtaxed their brains.

The only thing worse than a troll is someone crying "Troll!"

Dogma, slogans, and manifestos are boring to 99.5% of other members and just give the impression you can't think for yourself.

To keep your forum karma in balance, you should always try to help someone with something at least once in a while.

Why are people on Thaivisa scared to refer to this forum by it's name? Are they worried about getting banned from Thaivisa?

I don't think I would want to be a member of a forum that was so touchy that it would ban you for mentioning another forum.

The forum you allude to is called teak.door (funny, if I type out the name properly, it says URL automaticly removed)

Now to return to being positive, name five people you think are examples of those who make "quality posts.

1. Kat - Intelligent & well thought out posts.

2. Taxexile - Knowledgeable and helpful, knows how to inject humour with skill.

3. The_Scouser - Probably the single most helpful individual on the forum.

4. Sbk - Cool headed and remarkably patient with people. Very knowledgeable and helpful.

5. Ulysses_G - You won't find a more honest opinion from anyone. When it comes to local knowledge he's the sbk of the north.

Honourable mentions to too many to list.

I find that many serious posters on this forum have their own areas of expertise & make good reading. There are many posters with a great sense of humour that I like to read as well.

A few mentions:

Samran for his no BS, get down in the trenches & argue your point with the regular folk. :o

Steveromagnino (especially after he has consumed a few whiskies). :D

Bendix for his utter contempt of some situations (read - blatant stupidity on some comments posted by others :D ) & witticisms. :D

Ulysses & Chinthee for calling things how they see them. :bah:

Most of the moderation team (individually each for different reasons). :D

Obviously the Bedlam crew for great entertainment & interesting perspectives (otherwise I wouldn't spend time here). :bah:

I was talking to another Bedlam member who dropped by the other day & it was discussed that the top two hundred posters account for more than 90% (guess) of the total number of posts. These are the people that make up the flavour of TV & therefore, most likely to be the "Quality Posters".

Cheers.

That'd be Crowboy.

And i'd acccount for about 60 % of that 90 %

Cheers, dude.

:o

:D

;D

Soundman, I call things as I see them, but I also see them in different lights depending on how many whiskeys....sometimes very bright lights, sometimes very dim lights, sometimes no lights.??

Re. the mention of that "other forum".

Folks are gravitating there, not directly because of any quibble over moderation but rather because of the lack of meaty input in TV at the moment.

I'm sure it's temporary thing and it certainly doesn't mean they won't be back when the novelty wears off.

Well, I just registered there for the first time tonight with my same username, so see you all there too.

just peeked my head in over there. Looks a little bit like the Dark Ages forumwise. Did they issue you a can and some string when you registered?

Yeah, not very attractive. I think I'll stick with this forum, being as I never belonged to any other before this.
