Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà has urged swift action on Phase 1 of the Long Thành International Airport project to prepare for calibration and technical test flights by December 19, 2025. He instructed the Ministry of Construction to coordinate with pertinent bodies, including Đồng Nai province's People’s Committee, to intensify inspections, assess construction progress, and report any issues or solutions to the Prime Minister immediately.

The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) is tasked with increasing personnel and resources to ensure timelines for Component Project 2 are met. Đồng Nai authorities are required to address construction material supply issues, expedite quarry procedures, and ensure land handovers and investor selections by September's end. Meanwhile, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) is to conduct weekly progress reviews and mobilize additional resources.

Vietnam Airlines is collaborating with the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), VATM, ACV, and others to draft detailed scenarios for technical flights, prioritizing safety and adherence to schedules. Recent reports suggest that most policy, procedural, and material issues have been resolved, with only minor challenges in coordination and execution remaining.

Despite the progress, Deputy PM Trần Hồng Hà stressed the importance of enhanced coordination and focused efforts, given the heavy workload and complex tasks in tight timelines and challenging weather conditions. Ministries, local authorities, and contractors are urged to bolster their cooperation to meet the project's completion target.

Key Takeaways

  • Long Thành Airport project aims for test flights by December 2025.
  • Coordination and resource enhancements are necessary for timely completion.
  • Minor challenges remain, needing focused effort amid tight schedules.
