Police seized more than 100,000 counterfeit helmets and electrical power strips worth an estimated 30 million baht during a raid in Nakhon Pathom on 24 September 2025. The products, illegally imported from China, carried fake Thai Industrial Standards (TIS) certification marks, misleading consumers and posing serious safety risks.

The operation was led by Pol Maj Gen Pattanask Boopasuwan, Commander of the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD), who ordered Pol Col Pongpan Siripattaranukul and Pol Lt Col Thanapoom Sakprasas to inspect a warehouse in Phutthamonthon district. Authorities had received intelligence that substandard electrical goods and helmets were being distributed online without safety approval.

Inside the warehouse, officers found around 50,000 helmets and more than 50,000 extension power strips, none of which met the required TIS safety standards. Initial findings revealed that the items had been smuggled into Thailand from China, where a group of Chinese investors was allegedly behind the imports. The warehouse had been rented as a storage facility before the products were distributed through online platforms.

Police reported that no owner or staff were present at the scene during the raid. All goods were seized as evidence while investigators work to trace those responsible. Legal action will be pursued under charges including importing and distributing non-standard industrial products, using the TIS mark without authorisation and selling or possessing products requiring approval under Thai law.

Authorities stressed the risks posed to consumers by uncertified helmets and electrical appliances, warning that such products could lead to serious injury or accidents. The case highlights ongoing concerns about the infiltration of counterfeit goods into the market via e-commerce channels.

Investigations will continue to identify the financiers and distributors behind the operation. Police plan to gather further evidence to seek prosecution and ensure tighter enforcement against unsafe imports.

What is a power strip?

For me it's when my wife gets all bossy while getting undressed.
