Vietnam War film "Mua Do" (Red Rain) has broken box office records in Vietnam, drawing 8.1 million viewers and grossing VND710 billion ($28 million) by Saturday. This achievement crowns it as the most-watched Vietnamese film to date. In its final week before ending theatrical screenings next Monday, cinemas continue to be packed with 8–10 sold-out showings daily.

The film, which depicts the Second Battle of Quang Tri in 1972, has captured audiences' emotions nationwide. On the film’s fanpage, viewers shared heartfelt responses. Tran Chau Doan expressed gratitude for the emotional impact of the characters’ sacrifices, while Ha Minh noted its enduring significance, stating it "will live forever in people’s hearts."

"Mua Do" has evolved into a cultural sensation, drawing national attention as a historical war drama. Schools and organizations have participated by purchasing numerous tickets for veterans, students, and pupils to view the movie. Its production, known for its sweeping battle sequences and gripping storytelling, has elicited both praise and debate regarding its portrayals of combat and characters.

Director Dang Thai Huyen considered all feedback, though she integrated only what aligned with the film’s narrative. The screenplay by Chu Lai centers on a group of soldiers from diverse regions, focusing on the character Cuong, who forfeits a chance to study abroad to join the army. He and his squadmates, led by Ta, fight together, forging bonds that transcend their differences.

The film's large-scale production involved a 50-hectare set along the Thach Han River in Quang Tri, employing advanced equipment, including up to seven cameras for its major battle scenes. This careful attention to detail contributed to creating an authentic and immersive wartime experience for audiences.
