Police Bust Cross-Border Human Smuggling Network

Immigration Police have dismantled a human smuggling operation linking Myanmar to Malaysia, arresting two suspects in Bangkok on September 30, 2025. The bust followed months of investigation, revealing a sophisticated network that used Thailand as a transit route. Authorities said the operation involved illegal border crossings, safe houses and travel arrangements for undocumented migrants.

The case began in mid-August when immigration officers at Don Mueang Airport flagged a passenger travelling to Hat Yai as suspicious. The man, 47-year-old Bangladeshi national Zoid, admitted entering Thailand illegally via Myanmar on August 12. His aim was to travel undetected through Thailand to Malaysia, where his wife was waiting.

Investigations uncovered a wider network coordinated by a man named as Firdaus, a Thai national, working with a Bangladeshi contact known only as “M”. Firdaus arranged Zoid’s border crossing, safe house lodging on Ramkhamhaeng 24 Road and domestic flights. Police secured a warrant for Firdaus on charges of facilitating illegal entry, harbouring migrants and aiding evasion of capture.

On September 30, Police Major General Choengron Rimpadee’s team raided an apartment on Ramkhamhaeng 65 Road, arresting Firdaus. Evidence included rental contracts for properties used as transit points for smuggled migrants bound for Malaysia. Officers also found 40-year-old Myanmar national Joshua Win hiding in the apartment, who admitted he was seeking to return home after working in Malaysia.

Both suspects were taken into custody. Joshua Win was transferred to Hua Mak Police Station for processing on immigration violations. Authorities stated the investigation will continue to trace the network’s wider operations and connections across Southeast Asia.
