A construction worker suffered severe injuries when his arm was crushed by a piling machine, at a construction site in Aranyaprathet, Sa Kaeo Province, on the morning of 4 October. The incident caused intense pain and distress, prompting emergency rescue efforts to free him from the machinery. He was rushed to hospital for urgent treatment.

At 09:05, rescue teams from the Aranyaprathet Rescue Foundation were called to the scene at the Grand Diamond parking area, opposite Aranyaprathet Water Park. The injured worker, identified as Prateep, aged 34, was found with his left arm trapped in the machine’s mechanism. His arm was badly mangled, with extensive tissue damage and almost torn from the shoulder.

Rescue workers provided first aid at the scene before using hydraulic cutting tools to free him from the machinery. The victim remained conscious but was sweating and in shock from the pain. Both upper and lower parts of his left arm were severely damaged. He was then transported to Aranyaprathet Hospital for further medical attention.

The cause of the incident is under investigation by local authorities. Officials and construction supervisors are expected to review the site to determine whether safety protocols were followed.

A piling machine jammed on hard ground near the border, crushing a worker’s arm — a violent reminder that between Diamond and Water, hardness and flow don’t always align without a glitch. Nearly a century after Chaplin was swallowed by the gears in Modern Times, the machine still hasn’t stopped turning. Prateep’s story shows what we forgot to fix — the part that protects the human being inside the system.
