COVID vax averted thousands of infant-pregnancy hospital stays

COVID vaccines may have averted thousands of hospital stays in infants, pregnant women over 18 months

October 1, 2025

"A US modeling study published yesterday in JAMA Pediatrics estimates that vaccinating pregnant women against COVID-19 prevented 7,000 hospitalizations in infants and 3,000 in pregnant women from January 2024 to May 2025.

,,,

HHS changed guidance for pregnant women

In May 2025, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) stopped recommending COVID-19 vaccination for pregnant women after recommending it for years based on evidence that it reduces the risk of severe illness in young infants and pregnant women.

"Vaccination during pregnancy confers direct protection to newborns through transfer of maternal antibodies, conferring passive immunity to the infant for approximately 6 months, and is associated with significant reductions in infant hospitalizations," the study authors wrote.  "Infants younger than 6 months are not eligible for COVID-19 vaccination, and their risk of severe COVID-19 is much higher than other pediatric age groups, often similar to those aged 65 to 74 years in the current epidemiologic era," they added. "Pregnancy also doubles the risk of severe COVID-19."

Authors call for HHS to reconsider guidance

Under a counterfactual scenario in which pregnant women didn't get vaccinated against COVID-19, an estimated 7,148 related hospitalizations of infants (in a population of 1.83 million within the United States) and 3,106 hospitalizations of pregnant women (in a population of 3 million) may have occurred during the study period.

Interesting insights by Dr. James Thorp. He was, of course, fired and therefore relegated to the 'quack doctor who lost his licence' category. See how that works, @TallGuyJohninBKK?

Tucker Carlson and James Thorp?  You're joking, right???

Overall, we rate Tucker Carlson Network as Far-Right Biased and Questionable based on the promotion of propaganda, conspiracy theories, pseudoscience, and numerous failed fact checks.

And then, as for Dr. Thorp:

COVID-19 Vaccines Reduce, Not Increase, Risk of Stillbirth

By

Posted on November 9, 2022

"There is no link between COVID-19 vaccination and an increased risk of stillbirth, despite such claims online. In fact, vaccination has been shown in multiple studies to reduce the risk of stillbirth by protecting pregnant people and their babies from the coronavirus.

...

Citing Dr. James Thorp, a Florida gynecologist who has spread misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccines before, the Epoch Times proceeded to then falsely claim that the memo was “consistent” with other vaccine safety monitoring data in showing that the vaccines are hazardous during pregnancy. [emphasis added]

That’s incorrect. The memo doesn’t implicate the COVID-19 vaccines, nor does the existing evidence suggest that vaccination is unsafe for pregnant people and their fetuses. On the contrary, vaccination can protect against COVID-19, which can be particularly dangerous for pregnant people and raise the risk of pregnancy complications, including stillbirth."

Multiple studies show that COVID-19 vaccines don’t cause pregnancy or fertility problems, despite widespread claims on social media

Screenshot_11.jpg.7ece6eca9be4768c844a2673ef94d884.jpg

On 27 April 2022, The Epoch Times published an article in which gynecologist James Thorp and former Pfizer scientific advisor Michael Yeadon associated COVID-19 vaccines with poorer pregnancy outcomes and fertility problems. The article received more than 5,000 interactions on Facebook and Twitter, according to the social media analytics tool CrowdTangle.

DETAILS
Factually inaccurate: Safety monitoring data and multiple studies show that COVID-19 vaccines don’t negatively affect conception, pregnancy, or male or female fertility. Current evidence indicates that COVID-19 vaccines don’t impair ovarian function nor cause the immune system to cross-react to the placental protein syncytin-1.
Inadequate support: Pfizer’s safety surveillance document contains adverse events reported following vaccination. These reports on their own are insufficient to demonstrate that the vaccine caused the adverse events or is unsafe.
Lack of context: COVID-19 vaccines might cause small changes in women’s menstrual cycles. However, these are within natural variation and don’t suggest any safety problems with the vaccine."

Discredited COVID-19 vaccine skeptics tied to RFK Jr. group try to sway Franklin County

"Their claims were uniformly debunked by fact checks. Many of the speakers acknowledged they had been investigated by their home state’s medical boards for spreading misinformation and their medical licenses had been at risk.

...

She was followed by Dr. James Thorp, who said he was investigated and had his accreditation threatened over his claims about vaccine related miscarriages. He claimed his research showed there was an 81% miscarriage rate among pregnant women who take the vaccine, comparing it to the abortion pill.

The Annenberg Policy Center also had scientists and experts review, fact check and debunk Thorp’s research.

...

He cited papers he had authored, which included input from “independent researchers” who are not doctors or medical professionals. McCullough is cited as a co-author on some of Thorp’s research. [emphasis added]

Listen to him explain it himself. How he was offered $100k to shut up but refused, and therefore his hospital had no choice but to fire him as they are very corrupted by pharma money themselves.

The person talking in this video is Dr. James Thorp. I encourage you to listen to him explain his version of things, and then formulate a coherent response pertaining to the substance, i.e. what James Thorp is saying.

Do you think he is lying? In which case, has he been sued for defamation by his hospital? Because that is a serious allegation he is making against them, i.e. they tried to bribe him to shut up about vax injuries and then fired him for no valid reason by order of the pharmaceutical cartel.

Come on John, you're the educated adult in the thread, it's time to reflect that in your delivery.

Thorp has a documented and extensive history of spreading COVID vaccine misinformation (as documented above), supposedly lost his hospital job over it, and is now working together with another disgraced COVID misinformer medical doctor who was stripped of his medical board certifications for the same kind of stuff.

I think I've heard just about enough about this guy.

I have to admit, I have insomnia. I have had it for years and at one time, I participated in a sleep clinic where they connect wires to your head and analyze your sleep. Unfortunately, maybe fortunately the diagnosis did not come up with any conclusion. So now I take 50mg of Tradazone before bed and that seems to help. But alas, I have found a new and better option for sleep and it is all due to the postings on this board about the mundane subject of COVID-19 vaccines. Nothing in life can be more boring and sleep inducive to the rantings of vaccines. I am cured, thank God.

No, not at all. I'm talking about the West as a whole and luckily the sane ones are a large majority.

The US is a "special case", but even there the sane outnumber the nutters.
