A durian warehouse owner in Chumphon, Thailand, has rescinded an offer for a reward on his son’s mistress and cut ties with his son, aiming for a peaceful resolution. Arnon Rodthong, a businessman from Lang Suan district, initially posted on Facebook, proposing 30,000 baht to anyone who would attack the ladyboy associated with his son. However, he retracted the reward, highlighting advice from respected associates against the promotion of violence.

The incident attracted widespread attention, igniting debates about the legality of Arnon's actions, and his motivations to defend his daughter-in-law. Some applauded his protective stance, while others suggested his post could violate Thai laws, including the Computer Crime Act. Under scrutiny, Arnon admitted that his actions may have been illegal, justifying them as attempts to uphold his family's dignity.

Ultimately, Arnon deleted the controversial post and announced the cancellation of the reward, stating that he aimed not to set a negative public example. Moreover, he declared the severance of ties with his son, Chai, and plans to redistribute assets previously assigned to him. He vowed to allocate these to his granddaughter and expressed intentions to donate remaining assets to charity upon his death.

Looking forward, Arnon has decided to step back from media engagements and seeks a peaceful existence in his later years. His move to deactivate monetary incentives and familial connections underscores a shift towards resolving personal matters without public or legal entanglements. Arnon’s actions not only reflect personal decisions but also impact inheritance commitments within his family.
