Visa Exempt Entry - Hotel booking for how long?

Featured Replies

Hi, when entering visa exempt, immigration sometimes asks for hotel booking(s).  What duration of stay are they typically hoping to see?  The entire period of stay?  First few days?  First week or two?

Thanks

On a related note has the entry period for visa exempt been reduced from 60 days to 30 days yet as has been talked about? There is conflicting information on the internet.

They should/will not ask

You fill in a TDAC prior to flight.

If an io is practicing their English then state "Nana Hotel Soi 4 Sukhumvit.

They usually ask me due to my yearly trips and I give them a letter of invitation from a friend to stay at their house.  I'm now thinking hotel booking might be an easier way through without further questions.

You are over thinking it.

Assume that you are aware of TDAC which must be applied for online.

Simple process. You can file up to 3 days prior to flight.

It has an address in Thailand field.

Fill in friend address. Or random.

No big deal

Here is link to TDAC.

There is no conflict.

Visa exempt is currently 60 days and most likely will remain for near future and beyond

Base your plans around 60 and adjust if necessary.

Border bounces an option.

Also 30 day extension

They are basically just looking to see that you have SOMETHING.  First few days is plenty. The odds of being asked are quite low.

Thanks for the replies.

FYI, I entered Thailand 3 times between Nov. 2024 and May 2025 (1 TV and 2 VE).  Of the 3 entries, I was asked to show proof of hotel booking twice ... HKT & DMK.  I haven't used the TDAC yet.

Well that would have been the two visa entries and you showed your hotel booking I assume.

Not required for whole stay.

Few days of booking with explaining plan to travel afterwards.
