Provincial Police Region 2 has ordered the deployment of six Crowd Control Companies and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units to Sa Kaeo Province in preparation for an operation to expel Cambodian citizens accused of encroaching on Thai territory. The operation will be conducted in Ban Nong Chan and Ban Nong Ya Kaew, Khok Sung District, between 11 and 15 October 2025.

According to a memorandum issued on 9 October by Police Major General Thitawat Suriyachai, Acting Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, the deployment follows an urgent directive dated 3 October, aimed at ensuring readiness for “mission operations” related to the enforcement of Thai sovereignty along the border. The decision came after a coordination meeting on 8 October to clarify law enforcement measures and establish operational procedures for handling Cambodian nationals found residing or working illegally in the disputed area.

To guarantee the smooth execution of the mission, all participating police divisions are required to mobilise personnel, equipment and vehicles for a four-night, five-day operation. Officers will assemble at Surasinghanat Camp in Aranyaprathet District on 11 October for joint preparedness training with local forces. The six participating Crowd Control Companies will come from the following provinces:

1. Chachoengsao

2. Chonburi

3. Rayong

4. Prachinburi

5. Sa Kaeo (2 Companies)

Each provincial police office under Region 2’s jurisdiction is also required to deploy one EOD team and one Special Operations team, equipped for support and safety duties. In addition, the Investigation Division of Provincial Police Region 2 will provide one EOD team and three “Burapha 491” Special Operations teams.

The order specifies that all officers must wear standard field uniforms and Crowd Control scarves. Carrying firearms is prohibited during the operation. Commanding officers are responsible for supervising their respective units and reporting to Police Colonel Jaturapat Singhassathit, Deputy Commander of Sa Kaeo Provincial Police, at Surasinghanat Camp.

All units are to disburse official travel and operational expenses according to regulations and within their allocated budgets. In cases of insufficient funds, they are authorised to request additional support from Provincial Police Region 2. The directive emphasises strict adherence to relevant laws, operational discipline and coordination between regional and local units to maintain order and security during the expulsion process.
