Reports of tensions have emerged on Koh Phangan and neighbouring Koh Samui in Surat Thani province, involving Israeli tourists and business operators.

Allegations include the acquisition of land through Thai nominees and the establishment of businesses catering exclusively to Israeli visitors. Some tourists have reportedly caused disturbances affecting other visitors and local operators, prompting fears of wider conflicts.

  • This is really bad news. The abuses by the Israelis will mean expats will soon be unable to use such "borderline" methods like Thai nominees and agents for retirement, as the Thais will crack down on

I was speaking with an Aussie the other day.

Apparently Israelis have been banned from Bali and he was saying the place had a much better vibe as a result and less conflict.

What Thailand is gaining from these Israelis they are probably losing now from other nationalities.

If they the Israelis keep it it up the Thais might ban them also.

Again, the Israelis ruining it for everybody else.

The indians arabs and russians, chinese do a good enough job of driving away all the other white people. Thailand is in a bad location, and they will let in anyone. No hope for them

Before the Pandemic, there were quite a few guesthouses with signs saying 'No Israelis.'   There 'was' one hotel in Chiang Mai, a block off Loi Khraw, that catered TO them, and some of the stories the staff would tell of various complaints and problems caused were nothing short of hilarious! That hotel seems to have closed.

What businesses cater exclusively to Israeli visitors?

Examples please.

There was an Israeli place up in Pai earlier this year that had a sign up benning Thais.

That is what kicked it off together with the hospital incident.

The OP is not about driving away the white people, it is about the Israelis annoying the Thais to the point they are cracking down on company nominees.

This will send a lot of white people broke if you care about white people.

No photo of the sign? As part of a motorbike group we go there regularly, never seen or heard of any sign banning Thais, I'm also very friendly with some Thai restaurant owners there, that would have been big news.

To clarify about this all Israeli passport holders are banned entering all of Indonesia. Same as Malaysia. Not because of bad behavior as tourists or expats but because of foreign policy about the government of Israel.

I think that your post implied differently.

There have been signs in Pai and there was an article in AseanNow in the past discussing that signage.  The photo by MalcolmB above comes from that article.
No - I don't have the link. I have seen that article.

I consider this entire topic yet another malicious transparent effort to insult all Jewish Israeli nationals.

They are banned from many countries.
And historically been restricted in what they can and can not in many more.

Take it up with the Thais and the Bangkok Post then.

And Kaosod.

And Chanel 3

Stop lying. It's so sleazy. Any national bans that do exist are about politics not tourist behavior.

National bans when they exist aren't.

If a private business wants to ban anyone for any reason fairly or not that's OK if discrimination is legal in their locality.

That's pretty funny.

How problematic and disrespectful can a haircut possibly get?

Wish I was there to see that.
