Zelensky Leaves Washington Without Tomahawk Missiles

 

 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky left the White House without securing the Tomahawk cruise missiles he had hoped for, after US President Donald Trump said he was “not ready” to send them to Ukraine, citing fears of escalation.

 

Following their cordial meeting, Trump called on both Kyiv and Moscow to “stop where they are” and end the war — echoing a tone of cautious disengagement just a day after his phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump and Putin are expected to meet soon in Hungary, in what could mark the most significant US-Russia dialogue since the war began.

 

Zelensky said he and Trump discussed long-range missiles but agreed not to announce anything publicly “because the United States does not want an escalation.” Trump praised the Tomahawks as “a big deal,” emphasizing that the US needed them for its own defense, though he left the door open for “continued discussions.”

 

Asked by reporters if Putin’s planned meeting was driven by fears of the missiles, Trump replied, “The threat of that is good.” Zelensky reportedly offered to trade Ukrainian drones for the US missiles, drawing smiles from Trump.

 

The Ukrainian leader later appeared open to Trump’s proposal for freezing the conflict along current front lines. “We have to stop where we are, he is right,” Zelensky said, adding that the next step would be “to speak.”

 

After the meeting, Zelensky phoned European leaders, including UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who called the talks “productive” and reaffirmed Britain’s continued support. Meanwhile, Putin warned that sending Tomahawks to Ukraine would worsen US-Russian relations.

 

Trump described his recent call with Putin as “very productive,” saying both sides agreed to follow-up talks. However, he admitted Putin “might be playing for time,” though he added confidently, “I’ve been played by the best of them, and I came out really well.”

This is the biggest take away from this not if a few tomahaks are or are not heading Ukraine's way. My guess is if Putin isn't up for freezing the front some tomahawks may very well be heading Ukraines way if not the threat of sending them remains.

Ukraine doesn't really need Tomahawks, yes, it would be nice as they are harder to shoot down etc., but if Ukraine has lots of Flamingos and Neptune missiles and develops them further, then that will be effective and they have proven to be so (Russian refineries are up in smoke everywhere).

Ukraine is doing just fine whith HIMARS, Storm Shadows, and their own drone and missiles... and the weapons they develop themselves have no restrictions on them, unlike the US ones where you have to ask Washington for permission to use them, and that's the caveat of buying from other nations.

That's probably true and often the truth never stays buried forever... always outs. You have to look back into the history of Trump's business empire to the late 80s/90s when Russian money bailed out Trump as he was on the ropes big time... it will all be interwined with that time and what he promised and recieved back then.

Moscow is just calling in its debts. Trump has to walk a fine line though as he has to play both sides. It wouldn't surpise me if the Kremlin as dirt on Trump from like a few decades ago, as they are very, very good at that sort of stuff and Trump would be perfect for the honey trap... probably ended up in the upstairs of Luna Lounge in Moscow with the rich and powerful. Nothing can be proved, but it isn't a huge stretch of the imagination.
