For your enjoyment, and certainly mine. ColU's, now infamous, first comedy goal against Southend on Monday. :D

Both Brilliant :D:D

Agreed. That goal though. :)

Stockport 2 ColU 2

Now back to the serious stuff. A shocking performance by all accounts in throwing away an early two-goal lead (and with it any chance that there might have been for an automatic promotion place) against, let's face it, relegation fodder and the worst team in the division. :)

Yeovil 0 ColU 1

Kayode Odejayi's goal puts the U's up into third place and only three points behind Leeds for the automatic promotion place - albeit that they have a game in hand. But if they (and Norwich) keep faltering , then who knows. A good win this against a team with a decent home record.

Anyone sell underwear in Leeds ? :)

Swindon 2 - 0 Carlisle. A goal each for the deadliest strike partnership in the league. Millwall slipping up helps our playoff chances whilst Leeds losing even makes automatic more of a reality.

Charlie Austin............ There are no words to do him justice.

EDIT*****

Dirty Leeds get a late late equaliser. Grrrr.

ColU 1 Oldham 0

With Leeds failing to win at home, saving losing all three points with a last kick of the match equaliser :) leaves ColU only one point behind them in the table. A 65th minute header from Danny Batth provided the U's another ground out win, in which goalkeeper Ben Williams was not only ColU's best player but overall MOTM as well. But it's the goals scored that counts and that the U's having managed 5 clean sheets out of the last 8 games is what matters at this stage.

Brentford at home on Tuesday could see another twist in the battle for an automatic promotion place.

Tranmere Rovers moved out of the League One relegation zone for the first time in several months with a deserved 2-1 victory over Leyton Orient.

Notts County avoid administration. Steve Cotterill new manager

On a momentous day for Notts County Football Club, chairman Ray Trew is delighted to confirm that the club will not be placed into administration this season and that Steve Cotterill has been appointed as first team manager for the remainder of the current campaign.

With Wednesday's court appearance looming large on the horizon, Mr Trew and the board of directors were all too aware of the tight deadlines placed upon them in their bid to address the club's current financial problems and they have been working day and night since completing their takeover.

Whilst negotiations with creditors are still on-going, Mr Trew was keen to assure fans that he is confident enough in his assessment of the club's finances to announce that he can avoid the unwanted step of administration.

A momentous day indeed for Notts after a rollercoaster seven months. I hope all clubs, especially the Lower League ones, learn from County's experience of running after shysters in the hope of a windfall driven taste of glory. The old saying "Beware the Greeks bearing gifts" has been seen to be very wise, wherever the "Greeks" come from (Dubai via Virgin Islands via Jersey via Fantasyland in the Munto-Qadbak case).

As at 11.30am today [1830 BKK time] the winding up petition in the high court against Notts County was dismissed.

Now the club can get back to reasonable and realistic management and expectations - hopefully on the field as well as off it.

<deleted>! Good luck next season now we appear to be going awry!!!!

"We" as in Notts? (Is there another County fan out there?) :)

The problem, as I see it, is that Notts is committed to keeping its highly paid players for this season, who will be essential in the promotion drive, but next year, if on a tighter budget and in a higher division without these players the team may be really battling.

It's going to take a while to recover from the damage done this year and, unless they can get some more, substantial, investment they're just going to be another battling League Two club for a while yet. Still, the new owner seems to have his head screwed on.

If they can't go up with Schmeichel, Hughes and Davies in the team they really don't deserve to think about League One.

No Xang. The Prof is originally from a couple of miles away from my home town. Rochdale. Yes there are two Rochdale fans on here, maybe we should start our own thread :D

Not a good result for the Dale the other night. Lost 3-1 at home to Bradford :)
